About Tergar:


Tergar Meditation Community supports individuals, practice groups, and meditation communities around the world in learning to live with awareness, compassion, and wisdom. Grounded in the Tibetan Buddhist lineage of our guiding teacher, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, our online and in-person programs are accessible to people of all cultures and faiths, and support a lifelong path toward the application of these principles in everyday life. Tergar International is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that develops and delivers Tergar programs, in partnership with our sister organization Tergar Asia. Tergar International is based in the United States of America in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/ St. Paul, Minnesota, with a staff of nearly 50 employees and core contractors who work in various locations around the world.


Summary


The Chinese (cantonese) Translator is responsible for the translation into Chinese of all our events announcements, pages, description and content. As well as the content of our online and in person courses such as Joy of Living and Vajrayana Online. The Chinese translator will create subtitles for video material. The Chinese Translator will work under the guidance of our Translation unit coordinators.


Responsibilities


  • Translating written content from our Tergar events, emails, Online courses from english into Chinese.
  • Creation of subtitles
  • Proofread and edit Chinese translations.
  • Live interpretation during live events for a variety of different speakers.
  • Is responsible for interpreting and translating the teachings without altering its meaning and style.

Qualifications/Skills


  • Native Chinese speaker.
  • Must reside in the Americas or Europe.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in french.
  • Knowing the Tibetan language is a plus.
  • Experience with Dharma (Buddhist) content is required and within Tergar is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to become proficient in relevant software for translation such as Smartcat, Aegisub, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver multiple projects for multiple purposes on schedule with attention to the consistency.
  • Meticulous attention to detail while also delivering on the big picture.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Collaborative relationship-builder and problem-solver that enjoys working on teams and with subject matter experts.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and applications and implement new ideas.
  • Experience with Google Workplace, Slack, Jira, Agile Framework is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a diverse cultural context

Job Classification


  • Non-Exempt Hourly position
  • Part-Time (20 hours per week)

  • This is a 100% remote position that requires reliable internet access and personal workspace
  • Hourly wage range, commensurate with skills and experience
