Client Communication Systems (CS) business segment is a world leader in providing the best mission-critical secure communications, ISR and vision solutions to government, defense, public safety and critical communications customers around the world. The CS segment is seeking a Sr. Associate, External Communications (Public/Media Relations, Social Media) with responsibility to develop, execute, and conduct public relations and social media programs to support the CS segment’s business objectives with the media, public, industry, and other external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, External Communications, and in concert with business sector marketing and communications colleagues, the Sr. Associate, External Communications executes strategic thought leadership, media outreach and social media tactics for the CS segment. The individual will write press releases, media materials, talking points and key messaging, web and the segment’s Spectrum magazine articles, social media posts, etc. Additionally, the individual will work in close concert with the company’s designated public relations agency to shape favorable opinion of the CS business segment through factual, informative, and compelling storytelling. The position requires strong writing, editing and project management skills, along with the ability to handle multiple projects at once; work independently, manage ambiguity and ask for guidance when needed; adapt quickly to changing priorities while remaining positive, flexible and open to feedback; work well under pressure; and meet short deadlines.

Job requirements:

  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) and business sector leadership to write original, creative, compelling content that generates interest in Client Communication Systems, positions the company as a thought leader, and indirectly generates sales leads and business development opportunities.
  • Coordinate closely with sector strategic marketing and communications leads, business segment strategy team, business development leads, product line managers, etc., to identify, produce, and promote compelling technology and workforce stories with internal and external audiences.
  • Develops productive relationships with media and advocacy organizations.
  • Will write and a variety of materials, including Spectrum Magazine, press releases, web articles, etc., and work with outside consultants, including public relations agencies.
  • Ability to connect multiple content pieces across a single campaign, creating a compelling story and aligning to the campaign themes.
  • Ability to gain trust and credibility with executives, MarCom teammates, stakeholders and internal customers.
  • Execute a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly editorial calendar (social media, press releases, thought leadership, etc.)
  • Work closely with internal Creative Partner Lab and/or outside agencies to develop strong visual content magazine, social media and web content, etc.
  • External relationships will include print and digital media representatives, PR and communications agencies, other company representatives and government agencies.
  • Plans, creates and disseminates information using appropriate media to drive business strategy for products and solutions.
  • Research competitor marketing campaigns to stay current on industry positioning.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of current content marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Edit collateral and website content for consistency, clarity, brevity, accuracy and readability.
  • Adhere to Associated Press (AP) Style Guidelines.
  • Ability to travel for occasional reporting/writing assignments.
  • Ability to distill highly technical information into messaging for a broad audience.
  • Flexibility – ability to succeed in a demanding, dynamic and ever-changing work environment, managing multiple, evolving tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications:

  • Education, Background and Experience

o Bachelor of Arts or Science in Communications, Journalism or related field

o Corporate Aerospace, Aviation and/or Defense background preferred

o 2+ years of military or corporate-level experience

o Previous print journalism experience a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $35.00 - $36.00 per hour
