Job Description

The Lead Copywriter owns the messaging development and execution for Chefman and CHEF iQ product lines, creating packaging copy with a strong brand voice. In this role, you'll work closely with the packaging designers and other copywriters across the culinary, ecommerce, UX and marketing teams to ensure branding consistency.

The ideal candidate possesses the strategic, brand-first thinking coupled with a deep knowledge of CPG best practices. Requirements include a strong attention to detail and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high bar for excellence.

This role will report to the Marketing Director. Open to remote work arrangement.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work with packaging designers and other stakeholders to develop innovative, engaging copy across product packaging
  • Work with Marketing Team and Brand Manager to develop copy tone
  • Work with Product Development to understand product selling points and how to effectively communicate USPs in written form
  • Serve as gatekeeper for Chefman / CHEF iQ brand voice within the product ecosystem
  • Develop copy that is factually sound and compliant with legal guidelines for consumer packaging
  • Develop copy for the CHEF iQ app
  • Work with stakeholders to support routing process, including approvals across each department, editing, and proofing
  • Work efficiently within tight deadlines to manage projects and write concise, content with strong calls-to-action


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing
  • Experience in copywriting for CPG brand
  • Portfolio showing a variety of marketing executions, with an emphasis on packaging
  • Mastery of standard English spelling, grammar, and style
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to strike a balance between showing initiative and seeking input from others
  • Highly collaborative team player
  • Strong attention to detail with a high standard for professionalism
