About this job:

Are you a highly creative and motivated self-starter with a passion for social media content creation, experience in the retail space, and proven success in creating relevant, and engaging content? This position is focused on nurturing customer relationships throughout their car-buying journey. It is ideal for the creative who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, thinks on their feet, and brings a combination of strong strategic and messaging skills to the table. You will be involved in all phases of creative development and will be integral to the success of the team, focused on customer re-acquisition and sales. Senior Copywriter reports directly to an ACD on the Digital Media team.

About you:


  • You have deep experience writing paid social copy
  • You know how to drive concept development as well as the translation and extension of concepts into successful brand and marketing copy for social
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have experience serving as an essential member of a collaborative creative team as the primary writing resource
  • You intimately understand and love the world of social and understand the nuances of each channel
  • You are an outstanding communicator able to confidently and articulately present work to internal and client teams

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop compelling written content to support digital advertising strategies that align with CarMax brand standards and messaging
  • Collaborate with members of the creative, strategy, analytics, and agency teams to brainstorm, articulate, and develop concepts
  • Execute paid content for all social platforms
  • Maintain the brand's voice and the integrity of copy (grammar, spelling)
  • Present concepts and deliverables directly to partners, stakeholders, and the broader creative and marketing teams
  • Balance and prioritize multiple concurrent assignments at once
  • Maintain a familiarity with ever-changing social trends

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or communications preferred; graduation from an advertising/portfolio school or professional work experience can be substituted
  • 4-6 years of professional experience as a copywriter, primarily within a creative in-house or agency environment
  • Deep experience working in conceptual and executional copy and content creation for social media
  • Prior experience working in the automotive industry preferred but not required
  • Outstanding writing skills, including the ability to write in a specific voice and style
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to brainstorm, develop, and execute campaigns, familiarity with agile work practices a plus
  • Acute attention to detail and an ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Portfolio of work focused on social media REQUIRED and should be submitted at time of application. Please provide password if necessary

Work location is flexible if approved by the Company except that position may not be performed remotely from Hawaii or Colorado
