Spanish Translator Copywriter 🔥


Overview

The ideal candidate must be a creative translator, as well as an excellent writer who can craft engaging headlines and persuasive body copy for a variety of marketing communications media (e.g., social, online, digital, print, broadcast and direct mail) targeted towards different customers with different needs in Spanish. He/She must also be an excellent proofreader and have native speaker proficiency in both Spanish and English grammar. He/she will be an ambassador for several of the company's brands and ensure all Spanish messaging reflects each brand’s voice and is relevant for our audience.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Translate, transcreate, edit and proofread copy for customer and prospect communication efforts including printed collateral, emails, web pages, scripts and in-bill communications with native-speaker proficiency.
  • Make sound decisions about when accuracy and consistency should be the main goal in a translation, when a more creative approach to translation is needed (transcreation) or when providing Spanish original copy is the correct writing approach for a project.
  • Write original content in Spanish personalized for prospects and customers in various stages of the sales funnel and for various media and segments, as well as provide idiomatic back translations into English of content created in Spanish for stakeholder’s approval.
  • Collaborate with designers to develop creative concepts for assets; proofread materials for colleagues and provide quality control.
  • Maintain brand image, voice, identity and communication style in all translations, and original Spanish copy for each of the company's brands he/she will be working on.
  • Help maintain Spanish translation brand guidelines, translation memories and glossaries, and contribute to improve them.
  • Use his/her knowledge of regional differences across different Spanish-speaking countries and be able to produce translations that are understandable to the widest possible audience.
  • Enable cross-collaboration among teams working in Spanish-language content to make sure expertise and key information is shared to improve customer experience for this audience.
  • Balance competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Work with Trados Studio and Trados Live Teams or World Server to help ensure that our translation memories are updated.
  • Work within our content management system to edit Spanish web pages.
  • Keep track of tasks using our project management systems.
  • Think strategically to provide compelling solutions that meet the needs of key stakeholders and the Hispanic market.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Certified by the American Translators Association (English to Spanish) or a degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Translation or Communications
  • Experience with marketing and advertising content
  • Experience writing and translating for SEO
  • Experience working with Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, preferably Trados Studio and Trados Live Team and Trados World Server.
  • Experience using a project management system, preferably Workfront, to track tasks
  • Experience working with a content management systems, preferably Adobe Experience Manager

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Confident editor with an eagle eye for typos, misspelled words, confusing syntax, and grammatical errors in both Spanish and English
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to think strategically to provide solutions
  • Ability to think and act proactively to plan ahead and anticipate setbacks
  • Solid business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a deadline-sensitive environment
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environment
  • Ability to effectively present information and gain buy-in
  • Sets high expectations of self and work; self-motivated and resourceful
Experience:
  • At least 3-5 years' experience translating in an agency or in-house group
