Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Recruiting Manager with the drive, knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to source, recruit, evaluate and recommend talent domestically and internationally, develop compliant recruitment strategies and best practices, track recruitment activity, and manage the talent acquisition and onboarding processes.

Reporting to the Associate Director, People Operations, and directly managing direct reports, the Recruiting Manager oversees the recruitment processes for employees and contingent workers for global office positions in the US and internationally. This includes full life cycle recruiting for entry-level to senior leadership and collaboration with staffing firms. Our global offices are in San Francisco, New York, and other US cities, Hong Kong, London, Zurich, Sydney, Tokyo, Nairobi, and locations in Asia and Africa. The Manager plays a critical role in ensuring we attract, hire and onboard worldwide talent.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage the recruitment policy, process and practices, and drive the talent pipeline; perform full-cycle recruitment and build relationships with staffing firms.
  • Supervise requisition creation in Workday; oversee administrative and screening/reference functions; work with hiring managers to define recruiting strategy; edit job descriptions, review resumes and facilitate the offer process.
  • Generate strong applicant pools, proactively sourcing through LinkedIn and other platforms; work with hiring managers on leveraging their networks.
  • Serve as a point of contact for candidates throughout the recruiting process.
  • Supervise the maintenance of records for all applicants in Workday and on SharePoint.
  • Partner with People Operations leadership, developing and recommending departmental strategies, goals, objectives and systems for recruitment and onboarding.
  • Provide guidance on job descriptions and workforce planning across global offices.
  • Conduct informational interviews with employee referrals.
  • Provide interview training to new staff and global support to our People Operations Managers worldwide.
  • Partner with colleagues to develop and maintain recruiting-related departmental metrics and recommend changes to recruiting and onboarding aligned with Room to Read’s roadmap on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of global regulations, labor laws, industry trends, best practices, and developments regarding the recruiting and offer process
  • Assist with various research and/or special projects, as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • 7-10 years of work experience in recruiting or talent-related roles.
  • Expertise in full cycle recruiting best practices and implementing talent strategies.
  • Experience developing research strategies and sourcing passive candidates.
  • Knowledge leveraging websites and social media to promote a company’s brand as an employer of choice.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems, Workday preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including strong English and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior success building relationships with diverse groups of people and assuring a positive applicant experience.
  • Detail-oriented and organized while being a strategic thinker.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
  • Adept at using Outlook, Excel & Word.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided.
Recommended:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience recruiting project-based employees for bi-lateral and multi-lateral projects.
  • Familiarity with US government, specifically USAID, recruiting and onboarding requirements and previous experience recruiting internationally.
  • Effective in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization focused on high quality work and low overhead.
