Copywriter - Remote 🔥


Working at #00000 (REVOLT’s internal Creative/Content Agency): #000000 (pronounced Black) is a content/creative agency created out of REVOLT. The agency seeks to move culture by fusing Black culture and creativity with art and technology. Our storytelling authentically connects with Black audiences while inspiring broader audiences. We want to find people who believe in our mission and goals and feel inspired to grow while they’re here, rather than someone who checks the boxes but isn’t invested.
As a copywriter, the first thing we are looking for is a creatively inspired individual that loves to brainstorm and come up with inspiring ideas. Not only ideas but strategic ones that can connect to a client brief. We are a collaborative team so you will be working with a tight knit group of content strategists, art directors, designers, and research/insights. Beyond the idea, you need to be able to be a storyteller that can take an idea and connect it to a strategic insight, the clients’ problems, and culture as a whole. You have to craft copy that will bring a nugget of an idea to life in the reader’s mind.
You have to be able to bounce from client to client shifting in your voice/tone and solving completely unique problems. You will also work closely with other creatives to package ideas into a presentation. You create big ideas, campaigns, activations, experiences, ads and more. You write manifestos, scripts, emails, headlines, etc. And do it all with positive and collaborative energy. We have no tolerance for egos and bad attitudes. We are a newly formed group so this role is a freelance (with opportunity to transition to full-time).
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the Creative Director, you'll work directly with other creatives and cross-functional teams to concept, develop, and present client ideas and programs.
  • Crafting copy for content and campaigns, including, Brand Manifestos, Concept Write Ups, Scripts, Social Copy, etc.
  • Create strong and compelling idea write-ups, copy, headlines, taglines and calls to action
  • Collaborate with an art director/designer or work independently
  • Take creative feedback from multiple sources and sort out how to address it, directly or indirectly, for the benefit of the work.
  • Can ideate against specific social platforms like Twitter (feed & Spaces), Instagram (feed, Stories, Reels, TV), TikTok, Facebook, YouTube
  • Present concepts and ideas internally and to clients
  • Master the power and authenticity of Black voice and culture
  • Proofreading copy to ensure there are zero spelling and grammatical errors (unless intentionally breaking rules)
  • Help developing and constructing storytelling narratives for content that builds curiosity, engagement and emotional attachment
  • Deliver assignments on deadlines for project milestones


Skills:
  • 3+ years experience working within an advertising agency, digital media, and/or publisher experience focused on client campaigns
  • Experience collaborating with creative teams through production of video and experiential content
  • A strong, diverse portfolio of creative work
  • Strong presentation and copywriting skills
  • Ability to take client briefs and translate them into a winning creative proposal
  • Knowledge and interest in the evolving digital media industry and emerging trends in culture
  • A scrappy and resourceful attitude; interest in coming up with earned media ideas with limits on budget or time
  • Willingness to speak up and voice your opinions
  • Strong vocabulary and awareness of evolving AAVE terms and expressions
  • An openness to feedback from the entire team and a willingness to be vulnerable with your ideas
  • Interpersonal savvy: the ability to relate well to all kinds of people, build rapport, form constructive and effective relationships, utilize diplomacy and tact, and diffuse even high-tension situations comfortably
  • Integrity and trustworthiness; ability to be direct and truthful, present the unvarnished truth, keep confidences, admit mistakes, and never misrepresent oneself for personal gain.
  • Cultural taste in copy, art direction, music, etc. All the magical stuff we use to make our work.
  • Honesty, honesty, honesty. With creatives, with clients, with colleagues, and with yourself.
  • Affinity for innovation and technology in Web3, digital media, mar/adtech and content production (a plus)
