Overview

The Copy Editor requires a journalistic mindset, always thinking of and aligning content with our brand, for a variety of internal, customer-facing, and prospecting communications – both long- and short-form, and across a variety of media. The Copy Editor will edit, review, and ensure copy developed by other resources is consistent with our overall tone and brand as well as help develop and contribute new content as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and edit a variety of communications materials to ensure that all communications are excellent in quality, consistent in messaging, creative in voice, and 100% correct.
Collaborate with the marketing team to refine and edit technical product content for the SolarWinds website and marketing collateral, bringing a grounding and creativity to technical content.
Write compelling, engaging content supporting marketing campaigns and other business goals.
Display understanding of our value proposition and needs of buyers.
Write for a variety of audiences and media including but not limited to emails, case studies, web content, blogs, whitepapers, eBooks, crisis communications, FAQs, executive communications, advertisements, PowerPoint presentations, and sales scripts.
Conduct content sourcing conversations with subject matter experts and create impactful content from the information gathered.
Assist in the development of an editorial calendar/content plan in collaboration with the Corporate Marketing team.
Understanding of how content works with design; ability to modify personal style to meet the needs of design.
Help keep refreshed content for areas such as blogs, campaigns, articles, and PR-related content.
Meet aggressive deadlines and multi-task effectively to support multiple initiatives at once.
Additional duties may be assigned at manager’s discretion.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): Microsoft Office Suite
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in a marketing copywriting role focused on web and email content.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Rock-solid writing and output with little or no need for monitoring and mentoring in terms of proper business grammar, syntax, and style.
Excellent proofreading skills required.
Outstanding command of English language; ability to write and edit at an extremely high professional level.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality deliverables with strong attention to detail.
Strategic thinker who plans and executes on content needs in advance.
Ability to work as a partner with design and marketing colleagues in the department of shared business goals.
Strong understanding of B2B communications, and preferably technical marketing spaces.
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
