Hello, Hello! So you’re interested in joining us? Welcome, we’re happy you’re here.

When you Join Alight, you’ll find…

A team with deep experience in co-designing solutions that create new value around the world. We know we need to always be better, and we believe in the power and abundance of everyday people, everywhere, to change the world with us.

A culture of radical accountability to our customers –as we help build a meaningful life for and with the displaced, we ask them what they want and then deliver on it.

An organization that refuses to settle for anything less than delivering human-worthy services.

If you are looking to be part of a living, breathing, ever-changing organization full of disrupters and doers, then read on!

We are proud to work on borderless teams. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds and specifically encourage members of refugee, immigrant or other displaced communities to join us.

The Role

You’ll work closely with your colleagues on the Donor Services team to enter gifts and administer data for a designated portfolio of giving streams and partnerships. You’ll be guided by and receive support from the team manager. Simply put, your purpose will be to ensure donor intent is conveyed accurately, maintaining alignment between fundraising staff, the donor database, and finance.

You’ll know you’re doing well if:

  • You are in tune with the perspectives of all partners: Donors, fundraisers, donor services colleagues, the finance team, etc. Your work is deeply interconnected. You are always thinking about how your job impacts people, not just numbers.
  • Your natural accountability allows you to work with a high level of autonomy within a closely aligned team. You monitor your capacity, ask others for support when activity levels are up, and manage your tasks to be available to others.

The Team

Much of the team is based in Minneapolis with a remote/hybrid work environment. These positions will be in the Twin Cities with 20% in-office responsibilities.

Donor Services is a part of Alight’s Platform Services team that includes finance/accounting, human resources/administration, and grant support.

Who you serve

Donor Services is a trusted partner to the Alight family of organizations:

  • Alight works closely with refugees, trafficked persons, and economic migrants to co-design solutions that help them build full and fulfilling lives. Until recently, Alight served 3.5 million people in 19 countries. At present, we are also part of the emergency response in Ukraine and neighboring countries.
  • ORAM - Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration - started as the only international organization devoted solely to advocating for sexual and gender minority asylum seekers and refugees fleeing persecution and violence.
  • Eastern Congo Initiative advocates for, invests in, and partners with community organizations. Through the Asili social business platform, ECI is helping communities provide world-class essential services in a revolutionary new way.
  • Questscope is an innovative organization that produces social, educational, and entrepreneurial opportunities for marginalized youth, mainly in Jordan and Syria.

Where you focus

Each Specialist will take the lead on designated giving streams and partnerships:

  • Office-based tasks: Process mailed gifts and donor requests. Print and send acknowledgement letters. Make remote deposits. Track inventory for stationery and mailing supplies.
  • Donor requests: Respond daily to phone and email requests about giving and donor preferences.
  • Recurring gifts: Monitors and reports on the Alight recurring gift donor base. Responds to donor requests and follows up on lapsed transactions.
  • Subsidiary gift entry: Manage client relationships, enter gifts, send weekly and monthly donor reports, confirm coding with subsidiary staff, send acknowledgement letters. Use the expertise and insights of/from each subsidiary to benefit others in the family.
  • Employee giving campaigns: Enter gifts, ensure org descriptions and data are current, and support communications with donors giving via employee giving campaign.
  • Alight gift entry: Process donations such as stock donations, gifts by check, employee payroll giving, matching gift confirmations, Giving Tuesday, etc.

  • Suggest where systems can help solve problems or create efficiencies. Evaluate options, gain consensus, implement and evolve.
  • Discern when to ask questions and when to make decisions, including about nonprofit best practices or legal/regulatory topics.
