Job Title: Senior Accountant I or Senior Accountant II (Remote) Cost Center: 101651000 Accounting Corporate Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: Mon-Fri; day shifts (United States of America) Job Description: JOB SUMMARY The Senior Accountant I is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and monitoring financial data, and serving as a finance lead on system-wide initiatives. This individual will work under the direction of leadership to perform more complex accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant I provides financial information, serves as a knowledgeable resource to managers and makes recommendations to senior management. Remote work available for this position. WORK SCHEDULE M-F; 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM; Flexible start times JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: Demonstrated proficiency with completing independent financial reporting, analysis, collaborating with leaders and making sound recommendations to leaders. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriateness of various communication styles. Demonstrated leadership ability. In addition to one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Applied Math, or related field, AND five years of experience in an accounting, finance, or related field; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in another field, AND CPA or CMA licensure, AND five years of experience in an accounting, finance, or related field; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in another field with at least 24 undergraduate level credit hours (or 15 credit hours at the graduate level) in Accounting, Finance, or Business, AND eight years of experience in an accounting, finance, or related field.
Preferred/Optional:
  • Master's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or related degree.
  • Two or more years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or grant accounting.
  • Experience mentoring and training others.
  • Experience presenting financial information to small groups.
  • Experience researching and applying US GAAP
  • Experience in healthcare revenue accounting
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: None. The Senior Accountant II provides financial information, serves as a knowledgeable resource to leaders, senior leaders, finance leaders, mentors team members, and directs decision making to achieve financial goals and targets.
