Position Summary:

The Proposal & Bid Writer is responsible for creating and maintaining the content database of proposal-grade language. They present ideas for challenging solutions, driving best practice and ensure high quality and excellently articulated customer deliverables.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, write and organize information in a professional and credible manner to build a content database of proposal-grade language.
  • Conduct interviews with Subject Matter Experts.
  • Review products, services and/or business ideas.
  • Create strategies for convincing others to take appropriate action.
  • Organize and lead meetings for opportunities for proposal writing.
  • Edit and revise proposals according to feedback.
  • Maintain consistency in proposal writing be following company policies.
  • Work with the design team to create graphics and visuals for projects.
  • Maintain and update content database.
  • Maintain and update CRM with bid information.
  • Reviews and analyzes assigned RFPs and make bid or no-bid recommendation (according to CRM protocols.)
  • Inputs RFPs in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Facilitates a retrospective assessment on proposals to conduct a win/loss analysis to refine future proposal strategies, process, and content
  • Responsible for complying with all "ownership" responsibilities as outlined on the RFP Checklist including the hand-off transition to Client Services for all wins
  • Manages and writes proposals with support of sales and service team members
  • Designs, writes, edits, and proofreads copy for proposals, presentations, resumes, project descriptions, website, and related marketing materials of a complex nature
  • Apply creative/strategic insight in brainstorming, storyboarding, and other strategy, and development sessions
  • Further enhance all proposal documentation using graphics and other visuals to increase readability and interest
  • Conduct market research to help better position the company
  • Create and utilize a branded theme-based approach for the development of proposal and presentation efforts
  • Leverage client assets and collaborate with others to create compelling content and narrative
  • Improve the written articulation of product positioning and value propositions
  • Create and maintain writing resources, such as: templates, style guides, and approved messaging documents for internal teams as needed
  • Work with business stakeholders to ensure messaging best practices align with business brand and positioning
  • Seamlessly manage internal complex, multi-stakeholder RFP/RFI processes
  • Skillfully use and navigate many different digital proposal software platforms
  • Develops a deep understanding of employee benefits consulting, FBMC's unique differentiators, and the competitive landscape
  • Partners across sales and marketing to generate new ideas and collateral to help better position FBMC's unique strengths

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Journalism, Business Administration, Business Management, Public Relations, Marketing, English/Writing, or related field.
  • 4+ years' experience managing complex proposals in a fast-paced, B2B environment employee benefits experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products, Adobe Creative Suite, SharePoint, web-based, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications
  • Degree may be substituted by relevance of work experience
