POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Philanthropy Workshop (TPW) seeks a dynamic and experienced self-starter to help contribute to TPW's community growth, engagement and impact. As part of a global, close-knit team spread across offices in San Francisco, New York, and London, this person will play a key role in the success of TPW’s global strategy for community engagement, collaboration, and action. Reporting into the Global Director of Community, this individual will work closely with internal partners at TPW as well as external partners, speakers, and members to co-design and facilitate member programs, peer groups, and activites. The Community Manager: Action & Innovation will be a virtual role based on the East Coast with a strong preference for someone in the New York City metro area to be close to TPW's New York Office. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in shaping TPW's orgnaizational, member, and philanthropic sector impact.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Action Labs - The Community Manager will design and deliver Action Labs for philanthropists aligned with TPW’s core principles and practices in consultation with their manager and the global programs team. Action Labs are groups of TPW members who aim to achieve even greater social impact by coming together around issues to learn, share, collaborate, co-invest, challenge and inspire each other. In supporting Action Labs, the Community Manager will onboard and manage Action Lab facilitators and/or partners; design and execute Action Lab programs; co-facilitate sessions; produce resources and materials; and flawlessly manage logistics to ensure that Action Labs are engaging and of the highest quality. The Community Manager will be immersed in the emerging trends in the global philanthropy and social impact field and be able to integrate this knowledge into their work.

Member-Led Programs & Engagement - The Community Manager will interact with members on a regular basis, so bringing a member engagement mindset to program design and communications will be integral to curating high-touch experiences that drive individual members and collective community action and impact. As the TPW community grows and evolves, the Community Manager will play a critical role in supporting innovative ways to build community and increase member engagement globally.

Operations & Administration - As a member of TPW’s Community Team, the Community Manager will support TPW’s innovation work, conduct research to inform TPW’s methodology, and contribute to other special projects. The Community Manager will also provide critical operational, financial, and administrative support to the Community Team.

You have a passion for social change, social investment, and philanthropy; are intellectually curious; and thrive in an entrepreneurial, global team who is mission-aligned.

The experience, skills, and knowledge we require:

  • BA/BS degree in a related field [or equivalent experience]
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the philanthropy, non-profit, and/or social change field
  • Proven ability to research, design, and produce engaging content for a strategic, sophisticated audience where attention to detail in execution is essential
  • Experience with teaching, facilitation, and curriculum design
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to engage with a range of different stakeholders and represent the organization professionally and confidently
  • Experience developing relationships with philanthropists, major donors, senior executives, partners, and industry experts
  • Capable of managing multiple projects at once, prioritizing, problem-solving, budgeting time and resources appropriately, and working well independently as well as collaboratively
  • Willing and able to work occassional nights and weekends and to travel monthly to the New York office and infrequently internationally for select programs and meetings
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and able to quickly learn new tools and technologies; proficiency with Salesforce and/or other databases a plus
  • Willingness to manage office administration, and to do so proactively and efficiently

What we'd like but do not require:

  • Knowledge of global philanthropic tactics, trends, and parter expertise
  • Experience working with Asana, Salesforce, Slack, Calendly, and MailChimp
