As a member of the LA External Affairs team, the Community Partnerships Managers is responsible for supporting recruitment initiatives and activities in Los Angeles focused local community college to admit and retain a corps of 220. Reporting to the Managing Director of External Affairs they will supplement the efforts of the National Recruitment and Admissions team by identifying and building local community college partnerships to create a strong pipeline of prospective AmeriCorps Members ages 17-25 to serve with City Year LA.


As an effective relationship manager, the Community Partnerships Manager will inspire and grow relationships with strategic partners to attract applicants well-suited to and well-prepared for City Year. They will be an engaging and effective storyteller who can bring our educational equity work to life increasing awareness of the opportunity to serve, inspires potential applicants to apply, and providing excellent customer service to leads and applicants. They will implement tailored partnership engagement that builds genuine connection and advances this important work, including prioritizing time and resources to ensure maximum return.


This position will require travel in and around LA county. A significant portion of this role’s time will be in the community, building relationships with partners and prospective AmeriCorps members.

Responsibilities

Partnership Development & Management

  • Build a strategic partnership plan inclusive of goals, strategies, and tactics to facilitate recruiting leads for City Year Los Angeles.
  • Implement cultivation strategies to increase City Year brand awareness among champions within each partner institution and opportunities for them to promote City Year to prospects.
  • Build strategic relationships at local community colleges with key stakeholders such as, guidance counselors, administrators, student organizations, coaches, professors, and community leaders.
  • Deepen opportunities to source candidates from local community colleges, by partnering with staff across the site on a holistic partnership approach
  • Identify and assess youth facing organizations and educational institutions within Los Angeles and California to supplement national recruitment partners.

Recruitment Events & Activities

  • Identify opportunities to promote City Year service directly to prospects through events, community presentations, champion introductions, facilitating professional development workshop, etc.
  • Participate in external engagements at local community colleges and organizations including presentations, career fairs and information sessions.
  • Partner with the national recruitment and marketing teams to help tell the City Year Site story, it’s impact and AmeriCorps member experience
  • Regularly compare recruitment activity to applicant and acceptance yield and assess return on investment at recruited organizations.

Lead Management & Customer Service

  • Supporting leads to apply to serve ensuring CYLA admits and retains a corps of 220.
  • Partner closely with members of the national Recruitment & Admissions team to support a successful hand-off from local sourcing to the nationally led application and admissions process
  • Conduct phone-based, email-based, and in-person customer service to leads that ensures candidates are well-informed about the City Year corps member experience and admissions process.
  • Consistently tracking leads and recruitment activities in Salesforce.
  • Partner with CYLA departments and staff, stakeholder engagement, event and service day participation and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met

  • Relationship Management: Able to cross manage their peers and supervisor against internal project deadlines and initiatives. Balances their own projects against the needs of others. Able to work independently as well as on a team. Understands urgent versus important.
  • Desire to learn: City Year has a unique service model and organizational culture. Successful applicants will have strong experience and a proven track record of success in the above areas but must also be willing and eager to continue to learn as well as be self-aware of their areas for continued professional growth and development.
