Special Assistant To The Ceo 🔥


CommonLit is a nonprofit edtech organization dedicated to closing the literacy gap for elementary, middle, and high school students. We develop free educational resources, flexible curriculum materials, and integrated technology tools that are used by 22 million teachers and students in over 75,000 schools across the United States and Latin America. 

 In order to reach its mission, CommonLit generates funding through several streams. First, CommonLit’s Operations team actively fundraises via foundations, government grants, and individual donations. Meanwhile, CommonLit’a Partnerships team has paid partnerships with thousands of schools across the United States.

 We are seeking to hire a full time employee to become the Special Assistant to CommonLit’s CEO to support internal and external management and execution of CommonLit’s business strategy. The role is a unique opportunity for a candidate with 4-10+ years of job experience and ambitions to become a leader within a fast growing, high tech organization. The ideal candidate would have exceptional writing abilities, communication skills, and interpersonal skills, with previous experience in leadership, management, communications, business development, fundraising and/or HR.

Responsibilities:

STRATEGY 
  • Work closely with the CEO to execute and manage daily To Dos involving various departments and stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Initiate and manage various internal projects to drive organizational growth
  • Attend internal and external meetings and support cross-departmental collaboration and resource sharing
  • Work with the CEO and Ops teams to identify and craft pitches to strategic funders
  • Keep track of important internal KPIs
  • Streamline internal communication channels
  • Conduct research to support organizational priorities
  • Create presentations, including slides, spreadsheets, and other collateral to support strategic goals
PEOPLE OPERATIONS
  • Support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding projects for a fast growing team
  • Develop new training materials
  • Provide internal management to ensure smooth operations
ADMINISTRATIVE 
  • Support managing CEOs weekly meeting calendar and cadence of fundraising emails, relationships, networking and other stewardship activities
  • Help to prepare CEO for various meetings, including creating briefing materials and PowerPoint presentations
  • Help to prepare materials for board meetings, and collaborate with the operations team to support with board meeting communications 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of job experience in a startup or similar fast-paced environment
  • Previous management experience
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with organizational management and/or human resources
  • Strong research and problem solving skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized
