The Role:

The UX Researcher will work directly with other UX Researchers, Product Managers, Product Designers, Visual Designers, Marketing, and our users to better understand teachers' and students' interactions and behaviors on Newsela. You will conduct qualitative and quantitative research to inform and evaluate current and new features, products, and experiences. You’ll also evaluate the competitive landscape, existing customer journeys, and user goals to understand the needs of our users and inform product roadmap. You’ll become a champion of our users’ needs and goals in design and production conversations and will manage our User Panels (one of the current users, one of the potential users, one for students). This role will work across different products and will report to the Director of UX Research.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

Exceptional education products have never been more important or crucially needed. The research you work on will directly impact the learning and teaching experience of tens of millions of users across the U.S. Your work will enable teachers and students nationwide to discover and use the most relevant, engaging content in a timely, efficient manner, which will ultimately help drive higher engagement with Newsela’s learning content and better learning outcomes. You will have the opportunity to help shape the future of K-12 education by designing and delivering delightful, engaging, intuitive product experiences.

Why We’ll Love You:

With 5+ years of UX research, testing experience and survey design, you have proven knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and tools, with experience implementing them. You empathize deeply with users and fiercely advocate from their perspective and collaborate closely with other researchers, designers, product managers, and marketing to ensure research you deliver is integrated into every aspect of the product and provides a holistic view of our users. You have an exceptional ability to synthesize multiple inputs (reporting data, metrics, qualitative, and quantitative insights) to arrive at recommendations that deliver user-focused outcomes for the team. You have experience integrating user research into product design practices. You also have exceptional communication and storytelling skills, constant attention to detail, a positive attitude, open mind, and a passion for teamwork and collaboration. You have a portfolio of work samples focused on UX Research and Testing.
