Industry Principal – Insurance, North America

Our Team’s Vision:The Vertical Solutions Marketing team is a product marketing area and we aspire to be the top provider or low-code solutions in insurance by going live with quicker, higher-value and with less complex applications that solves strategic or mission critical, as well as the current focus of tactical, problems in the industry

Our Team’s Mission:We translate our expertise into the language and specific solutions that industry verticals and their delivery partners will understand.  We are a vertical revenue center who co-own and drive bookings through strategic vertical expansion, own the  overarching product strategy and narrative for the industry, and accountable for the go to market strategy.

The Objective:Be our North American insurance subject matter expert to and partner with functions  responsible for lead generation, sales, customer management, technical developers, partnership management, and product development (“functions”) to Deliver Revenue through: Developing and delivering product to market Enabling and training on the industry and applicable product Marketing product Partnering to create industry alliances Selling in conjunction with functions.

The Work:Mendix is a growing company within the larger Siemens organization.  Mendix was a start-up company bought only a few years ago by Siemens so getting work done can  be a mix of what it is like in start-up while at the same time we are putting in place the ways of working in a larger corporate environment.  While the overarching objective is to Deliver Revenue, the day-to-day work could see some days will find you presenting on industry trends and solutions to functions, while another day you may be writing a whitepaper.  Other times you will be consolidating the industry messaging and direction for promoting insurance or putting together a proposal to a customer. In addition to the work below, you will also likely have a project on which you lead.

Developing and Delivering Product to Market:

    • Understand market product needs by conducting market analysis and voice of the external and internal customer
    • Understand end-to-end customer journeys in the insurance industry from insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries, and service providers
    • Develop and deliver regional go-to-market plans based on your expertise in industry IT modernization projects, both big and small
    • Partner the Global Industry Principal to prioritize development of product by the product development team including creation of technology demos by defining and documenting target audience, and the processes and steps of customer journeys to be incorporated into demos.

Enabling and Training on the Industry and Applicable Product

    • Contribute and create to training resources and provide training and a about the industry, needs, and how Mendix has been used to solve customer challenges

Marketing Product

    • Co-own the planning of marketing activities with the marketing operations and lead generation teams including achievement of lead generation targets
    • Support these departments through the development of digital and print sales assets and related market-facing engagement strategies and industry content.  These can include social media, blogs and Points of View, product overviews, Mendix product and capability differentiation, and industry event collateral
    • Provide industry thought leadership and help coordinate and attend promotional activities including industry conferences and tradeshows that amplify Mendix’s unique value proposition for customer in the insurance  the industry

Partnering to Create Industry Alliances:

    • Develop insurance industry alliances in conjunction with the departments in the partnership function.  These alliances will include consultancies and technical companies who can help develop, sell, and implement Mendix products to customers. 

Deliver Revenue:

    • Attain the annual revenue target for insurance in conjunction with the sales teams, and support and sometimes lead winning new customers for Mendix
    • Work with sales to identify target customers for the pipeline
    • Participate in sales meetings and create and deliver proposals in conjunction with sales and other functions

Who You Are:

    • You are a creative and strategic business and technology thinker, with excellent attention to detail including creating products with a high degree of finish and marketing them. You have in-depth knowledge of how the insurance industry works and its processes.  Having skills to quickly learn about our products and translate such knowledge into strategies is essential. You have a strong drive to succeed, are highly collaborative, demonstrate integrity, and top-tier thought leadership. You have Strong personal organizational and time management skills.  You can work with sometimes challenging internal functions and departments.

What You've Done:

    • Obtained an undergraduate and ideally a graduate degree in business or a more technical subject such as engineering or computer science
    • Acquired extensive insurance industry experience from working in industry and preferably with consultancy experience
    • Have skills in change management, digital transformation, and process or IT re-engineering
    • Have prior in an insuretech or low-code, or knowing how companies in the insurance industry evaluate, purchase, and delivers technical solutions is desirable
