Program Coordinator - Protect The Protest Coalition 🔥

Organization Overview

The International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR) is a civil society organization based in Washington, D.C. committed to ending corporate abuse of people and the planet. As a coalition of 40+ member and partner organizations, ICAR advocates for real protections and strong enforcement of the law to protect the public by enacting reasonable safeguards against corporate abuse, protecting those who speak out against corporate wrongdoing, and combating the rise of the corporate state. ICAR challenges governments to engage and lead in the international arena, set conditions in the market, and ensure legal accountability and access to remedy.

ICAR, a project of the Tides Center, values diversity, equity, and inclusion and is committed to building a team and a culture that reflects these values.

Protect The Protest

Protect the Protest is a multi-organization Task Force launched in 2018 to stop corporations and other actors from misusing the U.S. legal system to intimidate and silence activists, notably through strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs). Protect the Protest provides legal and communications support for activists under threat and advocates for policy reforms to address this growing problem.

Protect the Protest is guided by a leadership team, made up of representatives from several participating organizations, and the work is conducted through working groups, led by staff of participating organizations, focusing on legal, campaign/communications, and policy issues.

Protect the Protest has a network model, with coordination at the center, and the bulk of the activity undertaken by staff of participating organizations, for whom Protect the Protest helps secure funds to compensate and enable participation. In this way, Protect the Protest strengthens and involves many organizations, rather than building out a single centralized one.
