Desktop Support Engineer


Job Description:

The Desktop Support Engineer is a great opportunity to work with all internal employees in our San Francisco office and WO employees worldwide. We're looking for someone with a customer centric focus and a varied IT background. You will have experience troubleshooting computer issues and supporting customers in person, by phone, email, and remote access tools. The Desktop Support Engineer will support laptops, PC's, software applications, printers, mobile devices, telephones, projectors, user accounts, network access, and setting up new employees. This role also will require you to manage certain IT related projects.

Here is what you'll be doing:
  • Provide support to WideOrbit's employees, both local and remote, for issues related to their laptops, workstations, printing, and software applications
  • Assist remote employees with company-provided equipment
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers on repair and maintenance of IT equipment
  • Help maintain the company's IT asset inventory list
  • Help maintain and support the company's standard PC and laptop disk images
  • Set up email and logon accounts, computers, telephones, and mobile devices for new employees
  • Manage Active Directory and Exchange
  • Working on IT Helpdesk Team projects
Here is what we're looking for:
  • 3+ years in a hands-on IT role supporting end users
  • Experience supporting Windows 7 & up, Windows networking, Active Directory, and Exchange administration
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and other common networking concepts and practices
  • Experience with remote access and collaboration tools such as Remote Desktop, screen share, etc
  • Knowledge of VPN client setup and administration
  • Experience with VOIP
  • Experience with Antivirus
  • Experience with supporting meeting set-ups including A/V
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Office 365 and Exchange preferred
  • BA in Computer Science a plus
  • Experience with imaging software a nice to have
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Calm, professional demeanor and strong customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
