CLIENT: Consumer Energy Company
LOCATION: Houston, Texas
TYPE: Contract -- Remote/Hybrid (candidates must be local to Houston, Dallas, or Austin, TX)
RATE: $35-38/hour
SUMMARY:
• Writer/Copywriter responsible for conceptualizing, researching, writing, and editing content for all marketing initiatives
• Manage multiple product lines bringing the voice of each brand to life and maintaining corporate branding guidelines and standards
• Work directly with the marketing team, designers, and developers to keep content fresh, dynamic, and persuasive across various media channels
• Ensure content is synergistically formatted for all mediums such as web, email, direct mail, video, blogs, and special events
• Leverage proven experience as a copywriter, copyeditor, content manager, or similar role
• Must provide writing samples or links to published work
• Opportunity is remote however candidates must be local to Houston, Dallas, or Austin, TX.
DUTIES:
• Create engaging, relevant, original copy for digital media and print campaigns, retail experiences and sales collateral
• Understand business goals, products, objectives and translate those messages to the customer clearly and effectively
• Collaborate with designers and marketing team to develop and execute creative strategies
• Participate in strategic, creative brainstorming sessions that produce fresh ideas
• Assume responsibility for ensuring that the copy fulfills the creative vision devised by project stakeholders
• Maintain corporate guidelines and standards for all published written material
• Remain current on the latest technology, digital tools, industry trends, content management, usability, and design methodologies
• Edit, proofread, review, and approve all written content
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 years of advertising/marketing copywriting experience, with at least 3 years in the digital space
• Online portfolio review required (writing samples)
• Familiarity with CMS content management systems
• Expertise in green living and sustainability programs/initiatives
• Excellent copywriting, editing, proofreading and grammar skills
• Broad understanding of how strategy translates into concept, brand, and the importance of consistency in voice
• Strong interest in addressing and advocating for the end-user experience
• Mastery of MS Office programs in particular PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Access, and Project
• Experience writing creative content for emails, direct mail, websites, video, print campaigns and events
• Bilingual in Spanish is a big plus, but not required.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelors Degree in English, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing or related field Experience
