FreeWill is an award-winning, social-good startup that has raised more than $4 billion for high impact nonprofits since we were founded in 2017. We’ve been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, Oprah’s magazine, and our co-CEOs have even been named to Town & Country’s “Top 50 Philanthropists” list.

All of this is because we’ve figured out how to make some powerful (but complicated!) ways to donate much easier and more accessible. Our products make things easier for the donors who want to change the world and for nonprofits doing heroic work around the planet.

In the last 5 years, we’ve grown from 5 people to 100+ (all smart, tenacious, and kind), and continue to grow quickly. We’d love to have you be a part of this adventure.

Full-time •  Excellent Benefits • Work from Anywhere in the US (except CO, AL, or LA)

About the Role

FreeWill is seeking a Data Analyst to help develop our data strategy and deliver insights for our nonprofit customer success team. This is a full-time position in a company with an office in NYC -- although you are free to work however remote you desire.

While this role sits within the Business Intelligence (BI) team, the role will work closely with our Content Strategy Manager, as well as other members of the Content team. The Content team creates outreach that is used by more than 600 nonprofits around the country to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in new commitments. To that end, this role will support data-driven efforts to hone and implement our content strategy across all nonprofits.

Expected Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility? To meaningfully analyze and transform content data into findings that can strengthen our content strategy, and help us generate even more gifts for our partners through the content we craft.

How? This role will execute analyses and uncover new data trends  to inform and drive an impactful content strategy. This will include, but not be limited to:

  • Create and evaluate performance on experiments to discover the most effective communications – these experiments may include A/B tests for different messaging, evaluating content performance in various channels, etc.
  • Conduct qualitative content analyses and general trend monitoring to inform content success
  • Use tools including Looker, Google Sheets, and our internal partner management software to run analyses
  • Influence the scope, detail, and frequency of content-related data that is collected for strategic analyses
  • Evaluate current flows of content-related data – identifying use cases or areas of opportunity for improvement
  • Integrate learnings from the BI team as well as the Content Team to ensure both teams stay aligned in priorities and best practices from a data perspective
  • Stay on top of fundraising and planned giving communications strategies and new techniques
  • Act with FreeWill’s values of focus, joy, kindness, and courage

Why? In order to build the best content strategy possible, it needs to be data-backed, iterative, and experimental -- which means we need a data expert to uncover new insights, identify new trends, and bring analytical best practices to our content data. This role will be the first to integrate Content Team's work with the BI Team's analytical expertise, to ensure we are efficiently and ethically building a data-informed content strategy.

Requirements:

  • Experience with database structures (e.g., SQL) and spreadsheet tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening, and presentation skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Desire to problem solve and capacity to dig into data analytically and thoughtfully
  • Knack for turning abstract notions into concrete actions… and executing on them!
  • Eye for finding trends and connecting to a bigger picture
  • Comfort moving in a fast-paced environment

A plus, but not required: Experience in content or marketing analysis/strategy
