Part-time Summer Immersion Program Student Recruiter


OVERVIEW

Girls Who Code is a national non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology. Through our free Summer Immersion Program and Clubs Program, we are leading the movement to inspire, educate, and equip young women with the skills to pursue careers in technology fields. Girls Who Code is searching for dynamic, results-oriented Summer Immersion Program (SIP) Regional Recruiters to execute recruitment strategies to build partnerships with local schools and community based organizations and leverage partnerships to recruit students for SIP, our 7-week immersive summer experience for high school girls. The ideal candidate has experience cultivating, building and maintaining school and community partner relationships, delivering high-quality programming and thrives in a fast-paced environment. They bring experience working with students, families, educators, and schools and a passion for connecting girls with high quality, free, computer science opportunities.

This is a part-time, hourly (up to 25 hours per week) position from November 2019 through April 2020.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Secure, manage, and cultivate partnerships with local schools and community based organizations to recruit students for our Summer Immersion Program
  • Represent Girls Who Code at targeted meetings, community events and conferences to increase brand recognition and increase applications to our Summer Immersion Program
  • Research local STEM and education organizations, after school programs, events, and online networks to promote the Summer Immersion Program
  • Conduct phone calls and email campaigns to individuals and organizations to build awareness for the Girls Who Code mission and the Summer Immersion Program
  • Work closely with Student Recruitment Manager and Director to ensure that the recruitment strategy being implemented is effective and meeting recruitment targets
  • Submit weekly status updates and meet monthly Summer Immersion Program application targets
  • Meet weekly (virtually) with Student Recruitment Manager or Director and attend weekly team meetings (virtually)
  • Host information sessions and application workshops to support families with completing applications for our Summer Immersion Program 
  • Convert interested students from lead to applicant, and from accepted student to registered student through phone banking and additional individualized follow up
  • Travel to areas within assigned regions and neighboring regions as necessary for community partner cultivation and management



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to Girls Who Code’s mission and to diversity, equity, and inclusion and comfort working with people from all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Excellent communication, presentation and people skills with an ability to balance priorities, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly organized with an orientation towards customer service that prioritizes timely, clear, thoughtful, respectful responses to stakeholders from all backgrounds
  • Experience managing school and/or community relationships
  • Successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, and executing quickly and effectively
  • Data driven: the ability to track outcomes through set goals  
  • Comfortable working independently and being a part of a remote, distributed team (your manager will likely be remote).
  • Ability and willingness to travel as necessary within your territory and to neighboring regions.
  • Comfortable working effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and goals
  • Proactive and self-motivated; you follow-through with projects from start to finish
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of the community in and surrounding the specific region
  • Experience with Google Suite and Salesforce preferred
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in computer science, technology, and/or education preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
