About Moneythink

Moneythink [1] empowers college-bound students, particularly institutionally underserved students, to achieve success by supporting financial decision-making through transparency and technology. Since 2008, Moneythink’s youth-focused financial capability work has served more than 33,000 traditionally underserved high school students across the country. 


DecidED [2] is Moneythink’s next big bet: Launched in the fall of 2020, DecidED brings personalized and scalable financial tech tools to millions of students and to the college access and success ecosystem. DecidED 1) empowers students to make confident, real time, holistic enrollment decisions using the most essential information; and 2) enables college-success entities to better support all students with new, insightful financial guidance and towards a more inclusive economy. Within three years, our aim is to serve 15% of our target student demographic and support 25% of college-advising entities with our product tools. 


We are looking for an experienced, top-notch Product Manager to help us take the DecidED web apps for students and advisors to the next level and fuel our ability to grow and deepen DecidED’s reach and impact. About the Role

You will

  • Develop an understanding for our organization, recent programs, current product objectives and market context.
  • Lead the end-to-end success of DecidED’s student [4] and advisor [5] web apps from discovery to launch, including:
  • Collaborating with the Director of Product to develop the product vision, strategy and roadmap.
  • Leading the feature development and launch process for new and iterative improvements to DecidED’s student and advisor web apps.
  • Partnering with API Product Manager, designers, engineers, and researchers to oversee the new product features from conception until launch. 
  • Soliciting ideas and feedback, gather requirements, write specs, create wireframes and workflows, and coordinate cross-functionally.
  • Owning the prioritization, execution and delivery of development backlog for the web apps; from front-end UX to backend CMS and CRM. Work with engineers to create stories in Jira and plan sprints. Manage multiple projects from concept through completion.
  • Communicating product updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Use your passion for technology and solving users problems to drive product outcomes
  • Align and collaborate with key stakeholders and customers to achieve shared goals. 
  • Be the voice of the student or advisor customer, through data and empathy.
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate product success based on qualitative and quantitative research, including internal tools, data and analytics.
  • Drive growth in KPIs and supporting metrics like traffic, engagement, retention, and conversions.
  • Capture insights from growth test successes and failures, and communicate them to the broader team.
  • Coordinate with the partnerships and marketing teams on the go-to-market plan for new launches
  • Collaborate with the partnerships team to provide training and best practices, and product support as needed.
  • Help with support and management of new users.
  • Keep up with industry trends and innovations as well as the competitive landscape.

Skills & Experience

Our ideal candidate approaches their work with a human-centered design lens and is passionate about the opportunity to partner with Moneythink in clarifying college finances for millions of students and families across the country.

Competitive applicants will also have:

  • A passion for developing new approaches to an existing problem, as well as a deep understanding of current approaches across the competitive landscape of college access.
  • 2+ years of managing consumer software products in the cloud. You have a proven track record of taking ownership of product goals and delivering against them.
  • Experience managing and working with a large group of engineers; ability to communicate and discuss technical requirements with engineers.
  • Deep understanding of the agile software development life cycle. Able to write detailed Jira stories to support engineering and QA.
  • Familiarity with tools like Figma, Django, SQL, Jira, Asana and BI Tools such as Google Data Studio or Tableau.
  • Ability to facilitate decision-making with cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Strong communication skills around your work, process, and decisions.
  • Research skills: Your toolkit includes data driven decision making and A/B testing. Experience conducting user research and integrating qualitative and quantitative findings into product planning.
  • Self driven. Able to balance working on multiple projects at once, applying yourself to a variety of contexts in parallel.
  • Growth Mindset: leads with curiosity, open to feedback.
  • Experience negotiating with vendors and ability to manage external relationships.
  • Knowledge of human-computer interaction principles and best practices is a plus.
