This role is for someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes social media and is excited to engage with a global community of young leaders and changemakers around the world - as well as think about how to utilize our social media platforms for our larger community of supporters (donors, alumni, parents of alumni, allies, etc). The SM Manager will set and execute a detailed social media strategy to grow our presence on existing platforms and expand our presence to new ones. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and an analytical lens. We’re looking for someone who combines visual and verbal creativity and experience with a get-it-done attitude, and stays organized and calm under pressure.

The strategy should bring a critical lens towards diversity, equity, and anti-racism and take into account all stakeholder groups (potential students, potential students and families, donors, thought leaders, supporters, and more.)
  • Drive engagement, brand awareness and community; iterate and refine strategy along the way as needed.
  • Set and track Key Performance Indicators; track results and analytics; draw meaningful conclusions and learnings from these metrics.
  • Develop Global Citizen Year’s unique brand voice and tone for specific social media platforms.
  • Design and implement an editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely marketing campaigns; manage weekly content calendar across all platforms.
  • Develop effective and engaging content across multiple social channels, in a variety of formats from written to visual to video and more:
  • Create high-caliber, original, on-brand, and shareable graphics, GIFs and short-form videos.
  • Conceive and execute influencer campaigns to build awareness.
  • Create social content that educates our community on the issues they care about and that matter most in today’s world (i.e. racial justice, equity, immigration, climate, leadership, and more).
  • Curate content from our students to best convey and share the impact of Global Citizen Year programs.
  • Supercharge existing programming such as the Leadership in Action Speaker Series to build brand awareness and credibility.
  • Develop digital toolkits to share with our partners and community to help broadcast messaging about events, application deadlines, etc.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase engagement across platforms, including expansion to new platforms and systems for maintaining and improving engagement on existing ones.
  • Work with the team and consultants as-needed to design and execute digital campaigns
