About the Role

As we enter our second full year of operations, Trio is hiring our first-ever Senior Manager of National Growth to ensure the organization meets its ambitious plans for impact and scale. A key member of Trio’s growing team, the Senior Manager of National Growth role is ideal for an individual who is a strong storyteller and experienced project manager passionate about expanding college and life outcomes for marginalized students that traditional higher education has failed to serve.

The Senior Manager of National Growth will report directly to the Managing Director of Growth and Strategy and work closely with Trio’s CEO.

Responsibilities include:


  • Identify high-priority target communities for site expansion in partnership with Trio’s CEO and consultants
  • Pitch and partner with key local stakeholders during the site exploration process alongside the CEO, working directly with these leaders to build community buy-in, raise funds, form local boards, and recruit new site leaders
  • Develop a structured and replicable process for identifying new site locations and conducting a formal exploration process
  • Launch eight additional hybrid college sites in new communities over the next two years
  • Build the Trio core “case for support” alongside the CEO and Managing Director of Growth and Strategy
  • Secure support from leading national funders for the launch of new hybrid college sites (including eight new sites over the next two years) as well as ongoing site operations
  • Develop and submit effective funding proposals
  • Manage grants and relationships with key funders
  • Create effective funder presentations and support delivery as needed
  • Lead communication efforts to position Trio as a highly-influential national organization in higher education access, equity, and workforce development
  • Develop and build the core Trio story, narrative, and vision
  • Raise awareness of Trio through networking and strategic communications in partnership with the CEO and Managing Director of Growth and Strategy
  • Manage other strategic growth-related initiatives as needed
  • Act as key member of Trio’s growing team, taking on other other duties as assigned
  • Contribute to annual organization-wide strategic planning process
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience. Prior work in project management, strategy, and/or consulting preferred
