Freelance Copywriter Remote 🔥
Oh man, that LinkedIn Easy Apply button looks tempting right?
Let's make this process actually easy. Or at least a bit more interesting.
We’re not going to have you fill out a form.
No logins, no creating an account, no uploading documents, or any shadiness like scanning your resume for keywords.
We’re not even going to ask for your resume. 😱
We’re just going to ask you a question. And we'd like you to answer it. That’s it.
You're a writer, this is right up your alley.
Also, real creatives (not recruiters) will be reading your responses. And we will get back to you. Either way.
How about a portfolio?
Yes, we do want to see some recent work. Sure. But honestly, we expect solid writing, craft, and creative thinking from all who apply.
We’re looking for smart, savvy, divergent thinkers who display a high level of communication, and curiosity and are more interested in working on projects that help remove plastics from the ocean than winning a One-show-Cannes-Clio-Pencil or whatever.
We’re not looking for a “Jack-of-all-trades,” “Rockstar,” or a “Unicorn” and we’re not going to adopt you to be part of our “Family.”
We want fully-formed, professional, empathetic humans who are great at crafting engaging messaging and love learning from teammates and mentors.
We want a copywriter that looks forward to solving our clients’ business challenges through creativity and is looking to do fulfilling work beyond the stodgy ad campaign.
Let’s say you have a few years under your belt (2-5), some solid project work experience, are comfortable working with clients, and are good with making around $25 to $45 an hour. (Depending on experience)
If all this sounds reasonable, here’s what we’d like from you:
• Copy the question below. It's Just one.
• Paste the question and your answer to the question into an email. Make the subject line fun and interesting. It’s your time to shine.
• Also, paste in a link to your work. We do need to see that.
• Email it to: email@example.com
We’ll have a look and set up a call if we think you're a good fit.
Copy and paste the following question into your email:
Below is a poem by Arthur William Edgar O'Shaughnessy, written in 1874.
Question: How do you think "The Ode" applies to our current times?
(Length of your answer is up to you)
We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams.
World-losers and world-forsakers,
Upon whom the pale moon gleams;
Yet we are the movers and shakers,
Of the world forever, it seems.
With wonderful deathless ditties
We build up the world's great cities,
And out of a fabulous story
We fashion an empire's glory:
One man with a dream, at pleasure,
Shall go forth and conquer a crown;
And three with a new song's measure
Can trample an empire down.
We, in the ages lying
In the buried past of the earth,
Built Nineveh with our sighing,
And Babel itself with our mirth;
And o'erthrew them with prophesying
To the old of the new world's worth;
For each age is a dream that is dying,
Or one that is coming to birth.
If you’ve gotten this far, know that you are already in the top 50% of applicants. You know, cuz you didn’t hit that Easy apply.
Thank you, we look forward to your amazing responses.
