DEPARTMENT: Cast Learning Hub

REPORTS TO: Head of Policy (when filled), Director of Empowerment Programs

LOCATION: Los Angeles, California or Remote

The Research & Data Analyst position is a full-time, non-exempt position within Cast's Learning Hub. The Research & Data Analyst will work within Cast's emerging Learning Hub to connect practice with policy through fostering learning and developing research and recommendations to inform service delivery and policy outcomes within the human trafficking movement.

Working alongside the Survivor Training & Learning Fellow, the Research and Data Analyst will lead Cast's research work, including designing and implementing research and evaluations, drafting reports and briefing notes, and support learning workshops, all aimed to deepen learning at Cast and within the broader human trafficking movement. The Analyst will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, partnering with Cast policy, training, legal, and social services staff. The Research and Data Analyst will report to the Director of Empowerment Programs until the Head of Policy position is filled.

This position requires thorough knowledge and understanding of a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, human rights, and strengths-based approach in working with survivors of human trafficking. Cast is searching for a candidate who can continue our commitment to the public health model of anti-trafficking work and who can bring an intersectionality lens when researching service and policy outcomes for marginalized communities We envision a leader who can prioritize multi-disciplinary collaboration and center the voices of survivors in this movement

GENERAL DUTIES:

RESEARCH (45%)

  • Facilitate the development of Cast's annual research and learning agenda, collaborating with the senior leadership team and program leads.
  • Lead on the research and evaluation cycle, including designing objectives and methodologies, developing data collection tools, analyzing data, and identifying findings and recommendations, while observing trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive research methods.
  • Train and supervise data collection teams for research and evaluation projects, as needed.
  • Draft reports and briefing notes, in coordination with the Survivor Training & Learning Fellow, on topics identified in the research and learning agenda

LEARNING (45%)

  • Convene quarterly thematic learning workshops for service providers, survivor leaders, and policy makers, with assistance from the Survivor Training & Learning Fellow
  • Convene learning workshops with Cast programs, policy and Learning Hub staff to identify recommendations for stronger service and policy outcomes
  • Support semi-annual dashboards and facilitate learning sessions for Cast's key performance indicators (KPIs), in collaboration with the Director of Empowerment Programs and Cast's database volunteer

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (10%)

  • Provide coaching and technical assistance support to the Survivor Training & Learning Fellow on research design, data collection, data analysis, and report writing
  • Provide technical assistance to Cast staff on research and evaluation methods, as requested
  • Work with the Cast's database volunteer to develop expertise in Quickbase and provide peer-to-peer support within the Cast team

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Professional level knowledge of public health, program evaluation, public policy, social work or related field
  • A minimum of three years of experience working in research and/or evaluation is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis is required
  • Experience writing research proposals and managing research projects is a plus
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of DEIBJ (diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice) issues involved in working with diverse populations and organizations, particularly as it relates to research
  • Ability to work independently and able to meet deadlines
  • Experience in working on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including facilitation and conflict resolution;
  • Ability to operate computer systems, including Internet, email, databases, and word processing software (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Organized, detailed, flexible, and able to multi-task to identify and respond to shifting priorities;
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative and professional demeanor with clients, Cast staff, agency staff/board, vendors, consultants, allied professionals, donors, and members of the public
  • Accept and abide by the mission and philosophy of Cast
