Technology Project Manager 🔥


Charity Navigator, the world’s largest and most-utilized independent nonprofit evaluator, is looking for a Technology Project Manager to join its engineering team at a moment of significant transformation and growth. The Technology Project Manager will play an integral role in Charity Navigator’s continued innovation, as the team seeks to make impactful giving easier for all.

Job Function: 

The Technology Project Manager engages internal stakeholders to solve pressing program and/or operational challenges through the use of technology.  The position implements solutions through effective IT project management, vendor selection, and management.  The position ensures the delivery of IT projects through the complete lifecycle from initiation to implementation. This will include direct management of specific projects, while championing and supporting agile project management processes throughout the organization. The Technology Project Manager will work diligently to ensure that projects are delivered on time, meet business and technical requirements, and keep projects within the agreed upon budgets. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management

  • Work with internal stakeholders to solve pressing program and/or operational challenges by determining project scope, timelines, requirements, and desired outcomes. 
  • Manage and maintain existing and/or new build solutions as appropriate to deliver on the intended outcomes of the system implementation.
  • Track project progress across the entire IT project portfolio.
  • Support CTO to set project priorities and timelines.

Project Management

  • Understand customer requirements clearly and develop and/or oversee the development of project plans, scopes, and deliverables. Translate business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee IT project management activities in an effective manner.
  • Monitor project progress on a regular basis and identify and correct any delays. 
  • Effectively manage cloud, software, and service vendors.
  • Ensure that final deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations. 
  • Elevate any concerns regarding scope, timelines, or deliverables to the project lead and/or CTO.

Organizational Support of Agile Processes

  • Champion and mature agile practices across the organization and enforce software development standards and best practices.
  • Oversee cloud, office networks, and applications and vendor managed service providers.
  • Utilize automated software test tools and frameworks to achieve software quality standards.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and direction setting to internal project teams and project leads.
  • Manage vendors in project and on an ongoing basis to ensure highest quality of service within budget constraints.

Other

  • Be the second-level support analyst for resolving mission-critical application problems. Also provide guidance to staff in resolution of other application performance issues.
  • Manage the administrative processes for the department.
  • Work with application software vendors for installations, upgrades, and problem resolution.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for the mission and values of Charity Navigator.
  • Three or more years of experience in demonstrated and successful technology project management.
  • Exhibits a high level of organization, time management skills, and ability to manage numerous details for multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong leadership and project management skills and ability to lead people effectively.
  • Skilled multi-tasker who can prioritize, work autonomously, establish timelines, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to assign and delegate tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to think quickly and implement plans/structure for accomplishing work. 
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to analyze and understand the “Big Picture” and to interface with clients and peers at all levels.

Demonstrated knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of Agile methodologies, including SCRUM.
  • Measurement & evaluation systems design and development a plus, as well as a working knowledge or awareness in the development or use of industry, national, or international quality or technical standards (e.g., OASIS, IEE, NIST, ISO).

Proven experience working with:

  • In-house development teams
  • External technology consultants
  • Platform as a Service (PAAS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) providers.
  • Content management systems, CRM, and marketing platforms.

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Location: This position is remote with occasional travel required to the New York City metro area and the organizational headquarters in Saddle Brook, NJ. 

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000
