Development and Communications Manager 🔥
Position Summary:
This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week, with a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. Currently in-person occurs at an office in Barrington with the possibility of a Chicago option. The Development and Communications Manager reports to the Deputy Director and is responsible for the coordination and execution of the organization’s fundraising strategy, including grant prospecting, grant applications and grant reporting; ensuring smooth and accurate donor stewardship and acknowledgement of donations; updating and maintaining donor collateral; and ensuring the Executive Director, Board Members and other stakeholders have the information they need to fundraise for the organization.
Responsibilities:
Board Communication:
- Represent agency development needs and goals
- Work alongside board of directors to raise money and friends
- Create Development calendar and merge with marketing/editorial calendars
Year End Giving and Reports:
- Write content for the year end appeal letter, coordinating with other team members as appropriate
- Write content for annual report, coordinating with other team members as appropriate
- Write content for periodic donor reporting (large private donors)
Donations:
- Oversee Administrative Coordinator entering data into Donor Perfect and the weekly donation sheet
- Draft acknowledgement letter, work with Administrative Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate acknowledgement of donations
Event Management:
- Schedule and attend event planning committee meetings
- Create the agenda for meetings in coordination with Event planner
- Oversee event planner – supervision meeting weekly for invitations, sponsorship packets, donor letter, (non-event: appeal letter, and annual report)
- Manage acknowledgement process for events alongside Event planner
- Be a host at the event, thank sponsors and attendees, and oversee event planner
Grants Management:
- Research prospective grants
- Write grant applications, LOIs
- Submit monthly and annual fiscal and program reports in compliance with grant requirements
- Attend Notice of Funding meetings for potential funding awards
- Attend fiscal and program related grant meetings with funders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years experience in nonprofit fundraising
- Experience in communications and writing preferred
- Experience working with Boards of Directors preferred
- Able to attend periodic staff meetings - Barrington, Illinois
