Location: Remote Duration: Two years funded by the Carnegie Corporation grant, with the possibility of extension.
Coordinate and organize ICAN/CAD2 community events, both physical and virtual events like hackathons/collabathons - Actively engage with and grow the ICAN/CAD2 community through outreach and dissemination activities.
Identify funding opportunities to grow the project beyond its initial two-year cycle.
Knowledge of the UNFCCC or climate policy institutions processes is strongly desired.
Recruit Petra is proud to support Open Earth in their search for a Climate Community Manager. This position supports the Climate Action Data 2.0 (CAD2) [1] initiative and community.
Location: Remote
Duration: Two years funded by the Carnegie Corporation grant, with the possibility of extension.
Salary: $55,000-$65,000 per year
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead collaboration across existing data disclosure platforms and emerging platforms on blockchain, satellite imagery, AI, and other relevant new technologies in the climate action data and analysis space
- Coordinate among the three different workstreams and manage the DIGS/ICAN/CAD2 community development and contribute to the community goals
- Prepare, support, and facilitate regular conference calls, stakeholder meetings, and weekly check-ins
- Moderate community-generated content and discourse on the community collaboration tools (Wiki Site, Email List, Chat, GitHub account, Kanban task management, common identity/branding, etc.)
- Produce workstream, project and funder reports, blog posts, briefing documents, and presentations to communicate initial findings and developments of CAD2 Data 2.0
- Support the development of the digital white paper for a DIGS prototype architecture, interactive user interface mockups for stakeholder simulations
- Co-define strategic objectives and milestones toward supporting key products or moments within the UNFCCC process, such as the Global Climate Action portal (NAZCA), Global Stocktake, COP, and/or efforts led by other organizations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a related field
- Passionate about open source tech for climate impact
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical domains
- Flexible in working environments while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- Capacity to work with team members and partners at all levels and across time zones in a highly collaborative and remote environment
- Ability to self-direct, take the initiative, and problem solve
- Significant domain knowledge in climate change, earth observation, digital technology, or a field related to this project
- Skills to manage project tools (i.e., Wiki Site, Email Lists, Chat, GitHub accounts, Kanban task management tools, etc.)
- Ideally, experience with digital technology related to environmental initiatives and open-source communities.
- Knowledge of the UNFCCC or climate policy institutions processes is strongly desired.
