Part-time Executive Director 🔥


Position Summary:

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the management of the US Chapter of ISPS-US, reporting to the President and accountable to the Executive Committee (EC).  The ED has overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, membership growth, fundraising, and execution of the mission of ISPS-US. This is a 20-hour a week position, with opportunity to grow into 40 hours a week.


The ideal candidate will be an innovative, entrepreneurial, people-oriented individual with proven success in fundraising, cultivating partnerships, and running a complex, growing organization. While not required, preference will be given to individuals with a personal understanding of psychosis through their own lived experience, as a family member, and/or as a mental health professional (therapist, psychiatrist, peer specialist) dedicated to psychosocial approaches to psychosis.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or humanities; Graduate degree in organizational development, management, or psychology highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of, and commitment to, the mission of ISPS-US
  • Prior relevant organizational and nonprofit management experience
  • Outstanding operational and administrative skills
  • Skilled and charismatic communicator (orally and in writing) with the ability to inspire members of the team and its partners
  • Creative and competent visionary, organizer, and problem solver
  • Skilled at working collaboratively with excellence in relationship building
  • High standard of integrity and ethics
  • Excellent grant writing skills with a track record of successful fundraising
  • Occasional evening, weekend hours and travel including the Annual Conference

Executive Director Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all the activities of ISPS-US are consistent with its long-term goals and mission.
  • Oversees and reports to the Executive Committee (EC) on the organizations results including all facets of ISPS-US’s effectiveness.
  • Monitors operations, actively participates in EC and ensures employee/volunteer and business practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Coordinates with ISPS international on member benefits, activities, promotions, policy matters, and finances.
  • Develops partnerships with similar peer organizations and relevant parties.
  • Works closely with the treasurer, overseeing the financial health of ISPS-US, including the preparation of annual budgets and monthly financial statements.
  • Engages members as appropriate regarding critical issues and opportunities. 
  • Assists the President with meeting agenda planning, preparing background materials, and other assistance as needed.
  • In partnership with the EC, enhances ISPS-US culture, promoting transparency, with clear and accurate communication, collaborating with members throughout the organization.
  • Promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in all areas of the operation.

Fundraising and Resource Development:

  • Identifies potential sources of increased funding and organizes fundraising efforts.
  • Writes grant proposals and engages in other fundraising activities.
  • Expands the breadth and depth of relationships and partnerships that will lead to sustainable, diversified funding streams and significant philanthropic investments in ISPS-US’s future.
  • Actively participates in fund development activities and the cultivation of individual, government, and corporate donors.
  • Establishes partnerships with like-minded organizations to further the reach of ISPS-US, and to encourage membership growth.

Community Engagement:

  • Plans and implements strategies to promote public awareness of, and engagement with, ISPS-US.
  • Monitors trends, emerging issues, and community efforts related to psychological and social approaches to psychosis in collaboration with the EC and president.
  • In partnership with the EC and president, acts as a key spokesperson for the organization, articulating the vision in an inspiring way.
  • Builds relationships with individuals, organizations, corporations, government entities, and community groups to support and enhance the mission.
  • Represents ISPS-US at public events, and with the media (including social) in many ways to promote the organization and its mission.
  • Works with the membership committee to expand the membership of ISPS-US.

Volunteer Management:

  • Identifies, recruits, trains, and energizes a talented team of volunteers to carry out the mission of ISPS-US, including people to participate in and to chair committees and regional branches.
  • Cultivates a welcoming and positive environment, supporting and encouraging the staff, EC, committee chairs and volunteers to be their best while implementing a culture of teamwork, accountability, and quality.
  • Ensures fair and consistent human resource practices and seek to implement systems and practices that encourage staff retention.

Salary and Location:

$35,000 - $40,000/year depending on experience for a 20 hours per week opportunity. Potential to become a full-time, 40 hours per week position. The successful candidate may live anywhere in the United States, as work can be done remotely.
