ABOUT THE POSITION

The Project Manager plays an instrumental role in planning and overseeing critical projects on the Content and Growth Team. Reporting to the department lead, the Project Manager partners with Project Owners to develop and implement processes to support end-to-end management through the ideation, execution, and delivery phases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities include:

Project Planning

  • Serve as a thought partner for the Project Owner during the planning and execution phases ensuring all projects incorporate best practices
  • Address concerns directly and escalates them to the PO/GO, when necessary, in a timely manner
  • Promote an environment of teamwork and support
  • Delegate tasks as necessary
  • Manage end-to-end project and is accountable for overall deliverables
  • Work with the Project Owner to outline the project plan (including risks, assumptions, resources, considerations, scope, timeline, deliverables, and budget)
  • Facilitate meetings, including participant coordination, agenda development, documentation, and action steps
  • Document milestones, track key deliverables, and monitor progress against the scope, deliverables, and timeline
  • Outline plans/objectives for each phase of the project, e.g. planning, execution, closing (maintenance)
  • Create systems, tools, and processes to be used on the project
  • Problem-solve, manage risk, and increase team efficiency
  • In a timely manner, assess concerns and determine and present possible solutions and scenarios to the appropriate channels for resolution, i.e Project Owner/Grant Owner, Finance team, Grants management.

Fiscal and Resource Allocation

  • Works with the PO/GO to determine cost estimates
  • Determines allocation of resources based on the timeline (materials, human capital, budget allocation)

Stakeholder engagement

  • In coordination with the Project Owner, determine stakeholder engagement strategy
  • Draft and communicate internal status updates
  • Assemble high-level reports and data/information summaries about project status to support engagement and other reporting needs (i.e., grant reports, external presentations, communications, etc.)

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • A passion for EL Education's mission
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of work experience in project coordination and / or project management with increasing responsibility
  • Flexible: NYC / MA / or remote location.

Skills and competencies:

An ideal candidate will have the following demonstrated skills and competencies:

  • Highly proficient in technology and project management tools including the Google Apps, use of online calendar, MS Office Suite, Salesforce and web-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Hangout, Adobe Connect, Asana, Slack)
  • Strong listening and communication skills including internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex, deadline-intensive projects
  • Excellent project coordination/management skills. Aptitude for implementing and/or developing effective processes, structures, and tools to manage complex projects - within and across teams.
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyze data to support recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively; excellent organization, self-management, relationship-building, and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through
  • Demonstrated high-level understanding of typical product development processes, including content, technology, design, and production
  • Experience in building constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
  • Sense of humor; flexibility/adaptability

TRAVEL

  • Willingness to travel as needed, up to 10%
