What will you do all day?

As a member of the Research & Evaluation team, the Research Analyst will ensure that teams at NMSI have expert guidance to drive their work strategically. This person will draw insights from multiple sources of (often messy) data, ensuring the organization can use quantitative data to support data-driven decision-making. The Research Analyst will translate results and analyses to meaningful, actionable recommendations for teams and design and implement tools and reports in response to team needs. This full-time position reports to the Director, Research & Evaluation, and is based out of a home office anywhere in the contiguous U.S.

What are the details?

  • Lead the organization's analysis and use of quantitative data to support programmatic learning through the development and independent pursuit of answers to organizational research questions with the support of the Director, Research and Evaluation
  • Ensure that organizational data, data analyses, and reporting do not reinforce inequities or power imbalances
  • Translate quantitative findings into compelling visuals, actionable insights, and user-friendly reports.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and partner teams to ensure quantitative data is accessible and reports are streamlined
  • Effectively communicate about data and quantitative analyses to internal and external audiences; and
  • Continually research and recommend new reporting strategies and products to leverage new visual displays, formats, and end-user capabilities
  • Build organizational capacity to collect and manage quantitative data through collaboration with stakeholders throughout the organization to develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality and care for participant experience.
  • Propose and implement solutions to data challenges with the support of the Director, Research & Evaluation
  • Document all data processes, sources, and calculations to ensure transparency, clarity, consistency, and replicability
  • Train and educate teams on reports and reporting features to support skilled data use across the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

What are we looking for?

  • Education & Experience - You have at least three years of relevant research or quantitative analysis experience. You are a data expert who possesses a strong quantitative background, experience with large data sets, data extraction and manipulation tools, and the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and distribute data. You have a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy. You possess superior skills with data analysis software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS.), database systems (e.g., SQL) and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI). Survey design experience is a plus. You are a quick study and eager to learn to use new tools as necessary.

What do we offer?

The minimum salary for this position is $67,833, and the salary offer will be commensurate with experience. We take pay equity seriously and work hard to ensure our team members are paid fairly no matter their gender, race, or other demographic backgrounds. In addition to a competitive salary with the potential for an annual pay increase, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including paying roughly 85% of employee-only medical, dental, and vision benefits plus a large portion for dependents. Staff are eligible to participate in 401(k) after 90 days of employment, with up to a 6% employee match, fully vested on day one of participation in the plan. Other benefits for full-time employees include referral and performance-based annual bonuses, telecommunications stipends for eligible remote employees, 14-16 paid holidays annually (including a week-long winter break), and a generous PTO policy starting at 18 days per year.
