Position Summary

Anera is one of the oldest American non-profits working solely in Palestine and Lebanon. Strictly non-political and non-religious, Anera delivers humanitarian relief in times of crisis and a range of development programs that have a long-lasting impact on their communities. The organization needs no sob stories to sell itself. Program successes in practically every community in Palestine and all throughout Lebanon and Jordan demonstrate the meaningful difference Anera donors are making.

About the Role

We're looking for a go-getter to join Anera’s US-based communications team. Our ideal candidate is not afraid to actively engage and build relationships with Anera’s social media advocates and influencers. S/he will always be one step ahead of the curve in coming up with exciting new content and ways of interacting with Anera’s advocates and followers on social media.

This new, full-time position will play a vital role in pushing out the Anera brand to old and new audiences on our social channels, drawing upon an amazing amount of content produced by our productive global communications team. This role joins the team at an exciting time, as we implement new initiatives to reach a broader audience on social media.

Responsibilities 

  • Post daily updates on all of Anera’s media channels.
  • Create digital content for social media posts.
  • Monitor daily communications/ messages from our community on all social channels. Reply and engage where appropriate.
  • Monitor alerts or mentions/ tags of Anera from general supporters and institutional partners on all social media platforms.
  • Find creative ways to interject the Anera brand or success stories into social media conversations to build Anera's reputation.
  • In collaboration with the team, map out and implement social strategies for advocate/influencer campaigns with the goal of raising funds or new followers.
  • Create content calendars with copy and hashtags appealing to our advocates/influencers and audience personas.
  • Maintain, research and grow Anera’s list of social media advocates.
  • Cultivate relationships – video chats, emails, in-person meetings, social media messaging – with social media advocates/influencers. 
  • Follow Anera social advocates on their preferred channels and share/engage with their content. Get to know their styles and preferences.
  • Create tools that give Anera advocates/influencers special access to Anera and make it easy for them to share and promote our content.
  • Initiate, create, edit, publish, and archive content designed for Anera’s advocates/influencers.
  • Monitor Anera WhatsApp chains and organize incoming videos and photos.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies.
  • Actively pursue new opportunities, ideas, platforms, etc.
  • Track performance of social campaigns against defined KPIs.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3+ years’ of demonstrable experience developing content for professional and/or personal social media channels, particularly Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Strong understanding of the digital landscape, popular culture, and the newest social media trends and user behaviors
  • Demonstrated ability to use tools such as Canva and Spark for designing social media posts
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Basic knowledge of social media analytics tools
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Collaborative

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate’s, bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field, such as communications, art/graphic design, web design, English, or public relations
  • Knowledge of the socio-political, historical context of the countries where Anera works
  • Some background in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors
  • Experience with communicating with social media advocates or influencers
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro
  • Arabic language skills
