Convention Sales Assistant šŸ”„


A Convention Sales Assistant is responsible for assisting the Convention Sales Staff in planning and administering sales policies and programs to foster and promote hotel patronage of all Capital area hotels through the various Destination DC sales programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to)


1.Prepare correspondence; administer sales leads (assign booking numbers on sales system, type, copy and distribute as appropriate and directed.)


2.Prepare special reports, forms, data entry and management for sales managers.


3.Sort and distribute mail and materials to Convention Sales/Services managers.


4.Answer telephones and directs incoming inquiries as appropriate. Assist customers (planners and member hotel customers) as directed.


5.Knowledge of and willingness to learn Washington, DC tourism information and information relevant to member hotels.


6.Provide file maintenance and upkeep of account management system of the Convention Sales department.


7.Greet guests of the Convention Sales Department.


8.Provide relief support for the front desk and assist with telephone coverage for other departments as appropriate.


9.Create custom proposals and marketing material for specific customer requests.


10.Assist Convention Sales department as directed on special projects (trade show, special event activities, site visits etc.)


11.Cross training with other departments, as assigned.


12.Other duties and special projects as assigned.


Experience, CompetenciesĀ Ā Education


1.Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office including, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, database management programs and ability to learn new software programs as directed.


2.Bachelor's Degree (B.S./B.A.) or commensurate experience in a similar capacity.


3.Excellent communication skills, strong initiative and work ethic.


4.Superior organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work well in a team environment.


5.Prior experience coordinating events a plus.


6.The position requires interaction with clients, partners and members; the candidate must vaccinated for COVID-19.
