The Senior Manager will be responsible for helping to grow and support a growing body of work on SNAP and benefit integration. The Senior Manager will help identify and share best practices in expanding access to SNAP, develop tools and resources that facilitate program improvement and access, foster cross-state learning, and communicate effective practices through conferences, webinars, and issue briefs. This individual will lead our work on supporting schools to do effective SNAP outreach and provide support to our work on benefit integration.

This position is preferably based in Washington, DC, but could be fully remote for the right candidate. Range for offers: $84,000-$91,900.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build deep programmatic expertise in SNAP, serving as a technical resource for staff and public and private program partners.
  • Develop and manage organizational strategy for increasing access to SNAP through schools, including tracking and summarizing lessons learned across the country, developing resources needed to fill gaps in the field, managing current grantees and making future investment recommendations.
  • Develop an understanding about how data and technology can improve access to SNAP and other federal benefit programs; keep abreast of state efforts to streamline benefit access and outreach; help manage grants to organizations and agencies using technology to increase access to benefits.
  • Provide guidance and share effective policy and implementation strategies for effectively delivering Pandemic EBT and Summer EBT benefits.
  • Provide expertise to support advocacy and policy teams work at the state and federal levels.
  • Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensuring this value is embedded in the organization and throughout our work.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required, or equivalent professional and work experience.
  • 5-8 years’ work experience with a focus on public benefits programs; experience administering SNAP or working with state SNAP agencies a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of SNAP program operations, data and policy.
  • Experience providing training, technical assistance, strategic planning or consulting services to nonprofit organizations, state agency staff and/or educators/school personnel.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to high-level audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
