Facilitator, Wellness In Words - California 🔥

**This position is available to anyone living in California. Must be able to travel.**

■ Who We Are

Art With Impact is a nonprofit that promotes mental wellness by creating space for young people to learn and connect through art and media. We serve students by partnering with colleges and universities to offer arts-based workshops that are designed to raise awareness about mental health, increase empathy in campus communities, and reduce the stigma around reaching out for support.

Wellness In Words (WIW) is a 1.5-hour workshop that invites participants to explore how our culture defines topics including hope, resilience, power, and identity, and the implications on our collective and individual mental health. Facilitators utilize short films and poetry to inspire conversations that leave communities with increased feelings of connection to each other, reduced stigma around mental health issues, and resources for continued mental health care and education. WIW is designed and intended for everyone, poetry novices and experts alike.

■ Job Overview and Compensation

We are hiring several Facilitators to run our Wellness In Words workshops at colleges and universities throughout California. Our workshops use a proven curriculum that employs a technique wherein students Immerse themselves in a topic, Explore their thoughts and feelings about it, then Express themselves through the written word. You will be trained to take our model and apply it successfully, while creatively observing yourself, the workshops, and participant responses to discover areas of possible improvement.

This is a part-time, employee position. You will facilitate anywhere from 3-10 workshops per academic semester, and will be consulted for availability prior to us confirming workshop dates. Workshops can be in the morning, afternoon or evening, and are almost always on weekdays. Some workshops might require overnight travel, depending on the location of the workshop and where you live. This position is best suited for someone with a flexible schedule and an ability and comfort traveling. Workshops are currently virtual but will be held both virtually and in person starting in the spring semester 2022, public health recommendations permitting.

You love working with people, listening to them, and letting them lead the way as you provide the container for discussion. You are comfortable with public speaking and discussing mental health; you are an engaging and energetic person with a strong presence that upholds participant experiences and perspectives as the primary focus of the workshop. As a team player, you can adhere to deadlines, maintain regular communication with the AWI team, and can make meaningful connections with the staff and students at the campuses we serve. As a poet, you feel comfortable leading and responding to individual and group writing sessions.
