THIS IS AN HOURLY PAID CONSULTANT POSITION. THERE WILL BE NO BENEFITS (MEDICAL, ETC.) OR LEAVE (VACATION, SICK, PERSONAL) PROVIDED.
I. GENERIC DESCRIPTION
The Crisis Counselor/Advocate Hotline Consultants I and II report directly to the Volunteer Recruitment & Special Projects for Victims Supervisor and are responsible for hotline coverage during non-business hours on weekdays, weekends and Holidays.
II. SPECIFIC DUTIES
A. Provide direct services via a 24 hour crisis hotline to crime victims in Montgomery County as follows:
1. Crisis services including crisis intervention, supportive crisis counseling, information and appropriate referrals to connect individuals to relevant services who have been affected by violent crimes in our community.
2. In-person hospital accompaniment to emergency medical examinations resulting from rape, upon contact from hospitals serving Montgomery County.
3. In-person police interview accompaniment when requested by a police department in Montgomery County.
4. Must answer 24 hour crisis hotline calls within 3 rings.
5. Must be at hospital accompaniments within one (1) hour of contact from hospital.
6. Must submit invoices on a bi-weekly basis for payment.
7. WEEKDAY HOTLINE SHIFT:
Weekday shifts are divided between Consultants I and II
Weekday Shift A Morning 6:00AM – 9:00AM
Weekday Shift B Afternoon 5:00PM – 7:00PM
Weekday Shift C Evening 7:00PM – 12:30AM
Weekday Shift D Overnight 12:30AM – 6:00AM

When on weekday hotline shifts (5:00 PM to 9:00AM) must report any victim contacts to the supervisor/designated staff before 9:30AM on the morning following hotline duty.
6. WEEKEND HOTLINE SHIFTS:
Requires weekend coverage on alternating days according to the schedule provided each month (5:00 PM Friday to 9:00 AM Monday).

- GENERAL
1. Consultants may switch days between themselves when the need arises. The need for change must be in days of coverage and must be provided to the supervisor.
2. Consultants must reside in the Pennsylvania SE Philadelphia suburban region, within one (1) hour drive of all hospitals serving Montgomery County.
3. All consultants must abide by contractual agreements.
4. Consultants are expected to deliver services to victims of sexual violence and other crimes in all regions of Montgomery County.
5. Consultants adhere to the vision, mission, and policies of the agency and PCAR and PCCD standards of service delivery.
6. Consultants must attend agency meetings and case consultation.
- QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
Completion of the 40+ hour state mandated Sexual Assault Counselor (SAC) training and 25 hour Victim Witness Advocate training as a condition of hiring. Criminal record, Child Abuse History and FBI fingerprinting background checks are required. Vehicle, valid Pennsylvania drivers’ license and automobile insurance required. V. SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POSITION
Skilled in supportive, problem-solving counseling and crisis intervention. Ability to fulfill responsibility and make sound decisions. Ability to work effectively as a victim advocate and as a systems liaison. Empathy, ability to listen actively and supportively, ability to be non-judgmental, ability to accept and give constructive criticism, mastery of skills and concepts featured in Sexual Assault Counselor/Victim Advocate training, ability to use referral guide and other resources effectively, ability to adhere to agency procedures and policies, punctuality and willingness to be a team player.
