Title: Independent Clinic Communications Consultant

Department: Communications

The Role: The Independent Clinic Communications Consultant will be supporting specified independent abortion clinics in the U.S. with digital communications, messaging, and media trainings around the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (“Jackson Women’s Health”).

The consultant will play a critical role in supporting movement partners in the creation and adaptation of communications materials and tools for use by the clinic community, including clinic-centered messaging and social media toolkits that are values-based, intersectional, and customizable by individual organizations.

Additional responsibilities will include the curation and dissemination of news clips and other content, with sample social media copy, to share with identified independent clinics in the U.S. The consultant will also assist with planning, coordination, and running digital messaging and media trainings for the independent clinic community. The consultant will closely coordinate with Abortion Care Network and the Center for Reproductive Rights Communications Department, as well as specified partner organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to shape clear and compelling content customized for independent clinics;
  • Experience crafting original messaging, and adapting existing messaging for specific audiences and needs;
  • Experience with digital information sharing, including insight into ways to reach audiences via social media;
  • Knowledge of the media landscape related to abortion and reproductive health, rights, and justice; a tolerance for consuming mainstream press about abortion;
  • Proficiency with Zoom as a presentation, training, and meeting platform, comfort with scheduling software, Google suite, Dropbox, and a digital workplace;
  • Experience in working in reproductive rights, health, or justice--particularly with the clinic and provider community (including patients, independent clinics, and providers).

The time commitment for this position is expected to be up to 15 hours/week or 60 hours/month; work may vary week to week.
