EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

The agency’s current programs include resettling refugees, providing mental health services to children and families, offering immigration legal services, and supporting seniors and Holocaust survivors. Agency offices are located in downtown Berkeley (five blocks from BART) and Concord (five blocks from BART), with a satellite location in uptown Oakland. JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development & Community Engagement, the Communications Manager will hold primary responsibility for the agency’s outward facing communications, with a particular focus on sharing information with donors about our impact and services. The Communications Manager is tasked with raising the agency’s profile in the community and creating professional, impactful electronic and print materials. As an organization that serves a diverse range of populations, the Communications Manager will develop strategies to tell the agency’s stories in ways that respect and lift up our clients’ dignity and strengths. The Communications Manager will collaborate with other Development staff in conceiving and developing materials needed for donor stewardship and solicitation. This position will have the flexibility to primarily work remotely, with a home base in and access to our Alameda County office (currently in Berkeley).


DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 Work with Senior Director of Development & Community Engagement to develop, implement, and evaluate an annual communications plan and content calendar.

 Develop content for and manage social media pages, website, and enewsletters.

 Lead digital execution—across email, website, and social media—of fundraising and engagement campaigns throughout the year.

 Analyze social media and website metrics and use data to maximize agency’s visibility.

 Work with Development staff to develop and produce impact reports and other collateral for individual donors.

 Solicit regular updates from program directors so that Development team, CEO, and board members have current program information to share with donors.

 Assist with developing content and messaging for events and appeals.

 Develop content for and manage production of agency’s annual report.

 Develop ideas for and manage the production of annual fundraiser video.

 Manage design and production of agency invitations, appeals, advertisements, flyers, and other collateral.

 Manage the agency’s online donations platform, including creating donation forms.

 Lead agency’s media relations, including pitching stories to reporters and preparing staff for interviews.

 Sit on agency’s Public Policy & Advocacy Committee, craft messaging for advocacy communications, and disseminate through our communications channels.

 Perform other tasks as requested by Senior Director of Development & Community Engagement.


QUALIFICATIONS

 5+ years of experience with nonprofit, mission-focused communications, covering areas such as website content, social media, newsletters, and donor communications.

 Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies.  Exceptional writing/editing and verbal communication skills.

 Experience briefing and working with graphic designers.

 Experience with print buying preferred.

 Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud suite, WordPress, Constant Contact, Google tools, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.

 Knowledge of the Jewish community preferred.

 Experience working in diverse communities and ability to bridge cultures.

 Clean DMV record, current California driver’s license, and car required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

●      Ability to communicate via phone and email

●      Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time

●      Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Annual salary range is $70,000 - $75,000. Generous benefit package includes: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, FSA/HSA, 401(k) with agency match (after 1 year), 28 paid days off, great colleagues, and a friendly, respectful work environment.
