STATUS: Full-time, exempt employee; this is a 24-month term position, with extension dependent upon funding

The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization committed to saving the world鈥檚 coral reefs. We work at local, regional, and global scales to keep coral reefs healthy, so they can adapt to climate change and survive for generations to come. As one of the largest global NGOs focused exclusively on protecting coral reefs, CORAL has used cutting-edge science and community engagement for nearly 30 years to reduce direct threats to reefs and to promote scalable and effective solutions for their protection. Our conservation science team is dedicated to translating science into action by building alliances with and across coral conservation efforts.

Position Description

The Program Coordinator works directly with the Conservation Science Director to implement CORAL鈥檚 ambitious five-year strategic plan. She/he/they assists with program planning, outreach, and logistical support, as well as tracking budgets for the implementation of deliverables outlined in project and grant work plans. The position requires supporting the creation of new partnerships and alliances to advance CORAL鈥檚 goals and project objectives.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

路 Develop and track work plans to meet grant and project goals and deliverables, and track project budgets and expenditures

路 Help establish and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborate with individuals, government officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders to advance CORAL鈥檚 objectives

路 Assist in the development of reports, slide decks, training materials, etc. to assist in communication to internal and external audiences; assist in running training workshops

路 Assist in identifying funding opportunities and the development of funding proposals

路 Provide administrative support to the Conservation Science Director, including reference management, meeting coordination, meeting notes, and travel planning

路 Other responsibilities and duties as needed

Required Qualifications

The Program Coordinator is expected to possess the necessary knowledge and skills to manage day-to-day activities and work effectively across multiple cultures and contexts to achieve coral reef conservation goals. The minimum required qualifications include a BA/BS degree in a relevant field, and two years of relevant experience at a professional organization.

Additionally, the Program Coordinator must have the following professional experiences and personal attributes:

路 Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and ability to efficiently and manage multiple and diverse projects simultaneously

路 Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with audiences from a variety of disciplines, cultures and backgrounds

路 Excellent collaboration skills and cross-cultural sensitivity, with ability to work with individuals in other countries and across organizations; experience working internationally and with coalitions and diverse and matrixed teams preferred

路 Demonstrated experience in desk research skills (e.g., synthesizing existing documents, preparing written reports, etc.)

路 Prior experience tracking budgets across multiple grants and projects

路 Experience with and/or education in coral reef ecology, underwater coral reef monitoring including remote sensing and GIS, coastal conservation, natural resources management and/or policy preferred

路 Commitment to CORAL鈥檚 mission and ability to work independently (and occasionally outside of standard working hours) without day-to-day supervision

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position with a 24-month term (extension depending on funding), offering a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance, 401K match, paid vacation, and paid holidays.
