Job Purpose: Leads management of college IT assets and resources

Position Overview

In this IT leadership role, you will lead IT Operations for Calbright College’s remote/distributed workforce, physical offices, and student body. A key imperative for this role is to ensure that Calbright’s rapidly growing team has the tools and support it needs to succeed. You and your team could be supporting 100+ Calbright employees and contractors and 1000+ students by the end of 2021, with these numbers growing in future years as the college enters its scaling phase. You will have opportunities to collaborate with Engineering, Partnerships, Operations, Finance, HR, and Success teams, among others, to build efficient and scalable solutions that have a positive impact on the entire College.

Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer, the Director of Information Technology leads a team that maintains and supports technology and solutions for students and staff, as well as the technology integrations that support these solutions. The Director oversees a team of technical contributors focused on areas including business applications, cybersecurity, and end-user support. The Director works closely with others on the technology team and stakeholders in departments to understand problems that need to be solved for both students and staff, and ensure that the team is positioned to deliver on needs that align with organizational priorities. The Information technology team is responsible for supporting both student-facing digital experiences and internal staff-facing tools used to support student success. The student experience consists of a sequence of steps required to complete a program, and a wide array of services and resources designed to support the student in accomplishing this. Today, this is done through websites for applicants and for students, marketing automations, integrations between our core technologies (including Salesforce CRM, Anthology ERP/SIS, Strut LMS) and select third-party tools (including Google Workspace / GSuite, Zoom, Calendly, Slack, Sophos, Kandji, Lightspeed.)

The Director coordinates efforts and collaborates closely with a number of other leaders and teams including the Information Systems and Early Product Development groups within the Technology Team, the Instruction Team, the Success Team, the Welcome Services Team, and various cross-functional project teams tasked with initiatives detailed in Calbright’s enabling legislation.

As a part of implementing new solutions, the Director of Information technology is responsible for ensuring that systems are configured such that Calbright can meet applicable reporting requirements (i.e., system, state, federal) with a minimal amount of manual effort. Effectively structuring and managing the streams of data flowing in, out, and between technology is a critical part of this role.

Technology leadership roles at Calbright are hands-on, so we expect the Director to be both a team leader and also a direct contributor. The Director should feel comfortable providing professional mentoring to direct reports, prioritizing projects appropriately, and managing day-to-day priorities and emergent issues in a fast-paced environment.
