About Home Share Oregon:
Home Share Oregon is a nonprofit agency specializing in creative, affordable housing solutions throughout the state of Oregon. Founded in 2020, Home Share Oregon is the only state-wide organization in Oregon designed to increase access to affordable housing by utilizing current, underutilized housing inventory. Home Share Oregon matches homeowners who have a spare bedroom available, to renters who are looking for an affordable place to live.

Our team includes an Executive Director and a governing board of 8 Directors recruited with an emphasis on diversity of skills and interests to assist in advancing the Home Share housing mission. Home Share has been reported on in the Oregonian, Portland Tribune, KOIN and KATU news.
Position Profile:
As part of Home Share Oregon’s effort to help people in our communities find housing opportunities, we are seeking a passionate, self-motivated professional to join our team as a Program Representative. Qualified applicants for this position will have skills in public affairs, case-management, grassroots organizing, community outreach, and will possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Program Representatives will work closely with the entire Home Share Oregon staff, as well as interns and volunteers. The right candidate will be highly organized, work well independently, and will be able to demonstrate an ability to lead volunteer teams. This position may require some weekend and evening meetings but also features flexible workweek scheduling.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and sustain a robust volunteer team in targeted counties across the state to implement the Home Share Oregon volunteer engagement strategic plan.
- Assist and respond to Home Share clients who need additional support.
- Maintain client information on application and in the database.
- Search for and provide shared housing referrals, community resource information and follow-up support to clients and coalition partners.
- Lead and assist in the placement of home sharing arrangements, support matching program, and conduct mediation when necessary.
- Attend meetings and events to distribute educational materials and conduct outreach to raise awareness of the program, as well as present to local organizations to form productive and lasting partnerships.
- Maintain networking relationships with service providers to stay informed about community resources for clients and to identify opportunities for collaboration.
- Complete timely reports including program data and outreach evaluations.
- Communicate with clients, staff, and partners in a prompt and open fashion, facilitating the exchange of referral and other key information.
- Maintain knowledge of social and economic trends that impact local communities and be equity-informed and engaged in inclusive outreach practices.
- Identify potential donors from community outreach and assist the Executive Director in direct solicitation as well as maintain positive relationships with contributors.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- 1-3 years experience in public relations, organizing, and/or outreach.
- 1-3 years experience in volunteer management.
- Ability to work independently while remaining engaged in a strong, mutually respectful team.
- Clear, friendly, and professional public speaking manner.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and/or evenings.
- Must have cell phone, computer, and vehicle with insurance.
- Must be able to lift 30-35 pounds.
