Position Description

The Program Manager (PM) is a member of SBHA's programs team, which implements the organization's training, technical assistance, and piloting of innovations within the school-based health care field. The highly collaborative programs team manages several initiatives that span School-Based Health Center (SBHC) and school-based health care clinical programming, business operations, sustainability, and quality improvement. The PM actively engages, works closely with, and functions as a part of the programs team. The PM is responsible for managing a portfolio of projects, initially including but not limited to SBHA's federally funded Youth Safety Net Project and collaborating on consulting projects. The PM has content expertise in one or more of SBHA's areas of expertise: child and adolescent primary care and mental/behavioral health; social determinants of health; ACES; health equity; youth development; trauma-informed care; healthcare operations and sustainability; healthcare quality improvement; sexual and reproductive health care; substance misuse; and telehealth.

The PM's key responsibilities include:

·       Overall management of program deliverables, tasks, and practices that support diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring high-quality and timely work of self and others assigned to program(s).

·       Brings expertise and guidance to the school-based health care field through trainings, technical assistance, developing resources, and connecting members of the field to learn from each other.

·       Liaise with grant program officers. Manage and implement all requirements to funder, such as progress reports, continuation applications, and data requests from program officers.

·       Design and manage virtual learning communities, such as the Project ECHO and CoIIN frameworks; develop curricula for these learning communities.

·       Design and deliver training content for virtual learning communities and other trainings.

·       Research best practices from the field and develop resources and innovative interactive trainings such as webinars, workshops, case studies, toolkits, and issue briefs.

·       May supervise program associate(s) and interns.

·       Manage program budgets.

·       Identify and oversee project contractors.

·       Liaise and lead on consulting projects for clients working toward more and better school-based health services and centers.

·       Identify funding opportunities and collaborate on proposal development.

·       Represent SBHA at partner organization's conferences, webinars, and meetings.

·       Foster collaborative relationships with representatives of partner organizations, state affiliates, SBHC sponsoring agencies, school districts, and others.

·       Manage and assist with an annual convention.

·       Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

·       Passion for school-aged children's equitable access to school-based health care.

·       Master's degree preferred, in Public Health, Health Education, or related field, or equivalent experience.

·       Five years of experience in program management. 

·       Experience designing and implementing programs.

·       Familiarity with youth development principals and concepts (e.g., youth agency, peer education, youth advisory councils, ‘supports, opportunities, and services’).

·       Strong facilitation, training, and technical assistance skills both in-person and virtually.

·       Ability to manage multiple projects without compromising quality or timely delivery.

·       Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process and in technical analysis.

·       An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, geographically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.

·       Self-motivated and capable of strategically prioritizing multiple tasks in fast-moving environment.

·       Ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative team setting.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Preferred Qualifications

·       Management of federal and foundation grants experience, including budget oversight and strategic planning.

·       Knowledge and application of youth development principals and concepts (e.g., youth agency, peer education, youth advisory councils, ‘supports, opportunities, and services’).

·       Experience implementing and designing youth development programs and leadership opportunities preferred.

·       Experience working with schools and/or education agencies, school-based health care

·       Extensive experience delivering technical assistance.

·       Developed partnerships at various levels (e.g., national, state, and/or local).
