Sanctuary for Families is New York's leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 11 locations throughout New York City.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Specialist works in collaboration with the Data, Evaluation and Impact team to manage assigned initiatives and provide support in project areas of database development, data collection, data analysis, technical assistance, and quality control. As a member of the Data, Evaluation and Impact team in the Operations and Administration department, the position is uniquely placed in the organization – requiring ongoing communication with staff in a number of program areas. The nature of the work is diverse and requires the position to be knowledgeable in the breadth of Sanctuary for Families' programs and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Development

  • Works in conjunction with supervisor to develop and update Sanctuary's database to be able to track various data needs across the organization.
  • Manages specific database and reporting related projects from initial engagement with program staff to implementation and reporting, including Sanctuary's financial grant assistance program, referral development, and other projects.
  • Develops and maintains relevant organizational protocols and processes for proper use of the database.
  • Researches, develops, and utilizes different tools to help improve data collection, data retention, and quality control.
  • Supports supervisor on implementation of staff trainings on various aspects of Sanctuary's database to ensure proper usage by all staff.

Quality Control

  • Provides technical assistance and training in areas related to data integrity, data quality, and user capabilities.
  • Through various ongoing assessments, determines data quality issues and implements plans of resolution.
  • Manages standardized data maintenance reports to ensure data collection processes are being followed efficiently.
  • Helps maintain the data@sffny email address, responding to technical support and data entry requests from program staff in a timely and efficient manner.

Reporting

  • Completes reporting and analysis needs, including overseeing a portfolio of funder reports.
  • In conjunction with other designated Data team members, ensures success around particular data collection and reporting initiatives.

Other

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the position's supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must love data!
  • 2 years' experience in data tracking, data quality, and/or reporting required
  • Fluency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of and experience in database development and architecture required – knowledge/experience in Salesforce data based development preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with data tracking or other Salesforce-related applications, such as FormAssembly, DrawLoop, or other programs preferred
  • Be open and willing to attend Salesforce or other online trainings to further development
  • Experience in aggregating, analyzing and reporting on data trends to various stakeholders a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Close attention to detail and ability to connect dots
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects
  • Understanding and ability to work with people in a culturally diverse environment
  • Commitment to work to end domestic and gender-based violence

Note: While the position will be largely remote, some regular in-person work will be required
