Regional Campaign Associate 🔥


The Regional Campaign Associate will work to support and help execute the Voting Rights Lab’s overall advocacy strategy and approach within their assigned states to advance pro-voter policies and fight voter suppression. They will execute a mix of digital, traditional grassroots, and communications tactics that persuade or pressure elected officials and other decision-makers to accomplish advocacy goals and help establish and maintain partner and coalition relationships to accomplish goals in their states on ballot access, voting restoration, election administration and other potential program areas. This position reports directly to one of the Regional Directors and works collaboratively across departments.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Work with the Regional Directors to develop campaign and mobilization strategies and cultivate in-state partnerships in a portfolio of states to help advance our goals in the state, both programmatic and power-building
  • Work with Regional Directors to build relationships with in-state partners and work with them in a collaborative and co-creative manner to set goals and create plans; identify new potential partners; and conduct outreach to establish relationships
  • Work with our digital communications staff and consultants to create digital advertising, click to call, and other mobilization campaigns, including targeting and messaging/materials development
  • Work with in-state partners to plan in-state grassroots mobilization and communications work, and provide support as needed including set-up, materials, and technical resources
  • Attend legislative hearings, coalition meetings, and other in-state events and share updates with VRL staff and partners
  • Support our communications work in a portfolio of states, including monitoring earned and social media sources, creating talking points and first drafts for materials, and more
  • Work with VRL’s Law & Policy team to create documents such as fact sheets, talking points, and other materials that will support our advocacy and organizing efforts
  • Conduct legislative targeting research with the Regional Director, for campaign development, targeting while deploying campaign tactics, etc... 
  • Interface with in-state legislative advocates to coordinate and support proactive and defensive legislative strategies

What we’re looking for in you:

  • At least 2-4 years of relevant experience in issue advocacy and legislative work, grassroots or digital organizing, and/or political campaigns
  • Experience managing outreach and ongoing relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of local stakeholders and coalition partners
  • Experience with advocacy campaigns, including an understanding of the tactics and strategies often employed on successful campaigns 
  • Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; excellent time management and organizational skills required to manage multiple priorities at the same time
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills 
  • A flexible team player that works well collaboratively across teams 
  • Strong orientation toward racial equity and social justice and committed to acting on the belief that racial equity and social justice are critical components of our work

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual salary for this position is $64,000 - $77,000 dependent on experience.
