The Staying Connected Initiative (SCI) Coordinator manages and supports a bi-national, public-private partnership focused on securing landscape connectivity across an 80 million-acre region spanning parts of 5 states and 3 Canadian provinces, from New York to Nova Scotia. For additional information about the Staying Connected Initiative, please view the Staying Connected Fact Sheet 2021.pdf [1]

Working with partners, the SCI Coordinator helps define long-term connectivity conservation strategies, builds strategic, scientific, and technical capacity in the field and develops key partnerships with public and private organizations to identify and resolve technical issues and to widely communicate solutions and best practices. They help develop innovative scientific methods, analyses, tools and frameworks to address connectivity needs, and engage diverse, relevant partners within the New England, Canadian, New York geographies where we work, to advance SCI’s mission. They represent the partnership in the larger connectivity and landscape conservation communities in the U.S., Canada, and internationally.

The preferred candidate will be comfortable with both independent and team-based work, as well as duties that span from day to day coordination to long term project implementation. We are looking for smart, entrepreneurial, and emotionally-intelligent go-getters who can manage and foster solid relationships externally and internally for lasting success. We appreciate collaborative approaches and encourage innovative ideas and recommendations.  

 

Location

This position ideally would be based out of the TNC Keene Valley, NY office, though working from a home office in northern Vermont or northern New Hampshire is an option.

Skills and Experience

·        Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in natural resource management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·        Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners and/or government agencies. 

·        Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).

·        Experience with communication via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.

·        Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.

·        Experience with producing maps and/or other graphic products and reports and operating GIS software.

·        Valid Drivers’ License.
