Visual Content Producer


Yelp is looking for an experienced Visual Content Producer for our growing Content Marketing team, serving both the business and consumer sides of our marketplace. The Visual Content Producer will help identify, build, and manage our inventory of visual assets that tell a story and make meaningful connections with our audiences.Our B2B content focuses on resources for business owners and managers to help them promote and grow their businesses. We publish content about how to use Yelp effectively and offer general best practices for marketing and promoting local businesses of all types—from restaurants to plumbers. Our B2C content is intended to capture the attention of consumers when they’re planning a project or shopping for services from a local professional or business, as illustrated in this article about the benefits of hiring a professional mover.This new role will be responsible for leading the strategy, production, distribution, and management of visual content assets supporting content marketing initiatives across our B2B and B2C channels. This includes graphics, photos, illustrations, and videos for blog posts, long-form articles, videos, websites, social media, integrated marketing campaigns, and other content that would benefit from a visual component.The ideal candidate has experience with graphic and video production, with an eye for sourcing and manipulating visual assets to enhance the written word and make text-heavy content more digestible, engaging, and scannable, in addition to sourcing or producing images or video for more visual-focused platforms like social media.This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing marketing organization, contribute to Yelp’s growth, help local businesses succeed, and connect consumers to great local businesses.

Where you come in:

  • Research, curate or create, and produce photos, illustrations, and other visual assets for use on the Yelp business blog, Yelp for Business website, and Yelp.com consumer articles (such as this one with home improvement tips or this one on finding a good locksmith).
  • Curate or create visual assets that inspire and build trust with business owners and consumers for other types of content, including educational articles, guides, newsletters, and customer stories.
  • Manage pre-production content for videos that will appear on B2B and B2C posts and on YouTube or other social channels. Coordinate business owner bookings (aka talent), self-filming tips, questions and answers, and workflow between Content Marketing and Yelp Studios, our in-house video production team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in marketing, product, customer success, PR, social media, and sales as well as external resources—customers, partners, freelancers, and vendors—to create and source visual assets.
  • Modify and edit existing visual assets or create new ones to promote content in other channels and by other Yelp teams, such as product marketing, performance and lifecycle marketing, product development, community, social media, sales, etc.
  • Manage pre-production of graphics and upload visual and written content into WordPress for publication.
  • Foster a culture of creative excellence; explain the thinking behind creative asset strategies and decisions, and share best practices with team members.
  • Develop and manage a library of visual assets and content to help you and others locate appropriate assets from our growing inventory.
  • Create and manage processes for requesting new visual assets as well as using assets from the existing inventory.
  • Track licenses/fees/agreements on assets acquired from content providers and other sources.
  • Track and report stock photo usage and trends.
  • Assist with other content production needs in the CMS.


What it takes to succeed:

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing/communications, brand marketing, editorial publishing, and/or a creative agency
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with visual assets for content
  • A demonstrated ability to create compelling visual content that enhances the written word
  • The ability to adapt your visual style to fit Yelp's brand
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in graphics production, marketing, or a related field
  • Design and web content production experience is a plus
  • A keen understanding of consumer behavior and trends in visual content
  • Experience working with or for local small- and medium-sized businesses is preferred
  • Experience with WordPress (or a similar CMS) is preferred
  • Experience with digital asset management (DAM) software, including administration, is preferred
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and adept at project management
  • An enormous amount of empathy and humanity, with a deep understanding of how visuals and video make people feel
  • A healthy respect for deadlines: the ability to prioritize progress over perfection and the drive to see projects through to completion
  • Excitement for all aspects of visual content development: idea generation, research, gathering input and buy in, and collaborating with writers, editors, and other content marketing team members
