Prevention Coordinator


Position Purpose: To help Haven, Gallatin County’s non-profit serving survivors of domestic violence, increase outreach and education efforts, and support Haven’s volunteer program through education. This position works to strengthen partnerships and overall prevention efforts.


Responsibilities

Community Education and Outreach

●      Increase Haven’s s presence in rural communities and among underserved populations by working with the Program Director to establish a plan for rural outreach.

●      Cultivate long-term relationships with community partners and organizations.

●      Provide domestic violence education specific to the needs of community organizations, including those who work with underserved populations.

●      Support and connect community and program members to Haven services.

●      Promote Haven and its mission at community events.

●      Lead Haven’s youth education program partnerships: Haven/Bridgercare Peer Education Program, Youth Dynamics, Inc., and HRDC’s Blueprint unhoused youth program.

●      Explore prevention program opportunities that support Haven’s strategic goal priorities.

●      Facilitate Haven’s survivor speakers’ bureau, End the Silence and maintain communication with the group.

●      Monitor Survivors Supporting Survivors Facebook group.

●      Track community education presentations and provide statistics upon request.


Volunteer Training

●      Develop, schedule, and implement quarterly volunteer trainings.

●      Develop and maintain volunteer training content, including educational manuals.

●      Offer ongoing training opportunities for Haven interns.


Marketing and Development Assistance

●      Provide feedback, consult, and education materials for Haven communications and development team, as requested.

●      Facilitate public-facing education and/or donor events as requested by the development team.


Organization

●      Assist with evaluation of all community engagement and education efforts and programs.

●      Communicate and collaborate with other Haven staff regarding the program needs, assignments, and budget.

●      Track Haven’s community education and outreach efforts. Provide reports as requested.


Other

●      Attend staff meetings.

●      Other duties as requested by the Program Director or Executive Director.

●      Provide back-up support for weekend and overnight support-line advocates in rotation and offer support line coverage as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:


Required Qualifications:

●      Experience recruiting, training, managing and supporting groups of individuals.

●      Driver’s license, reliable car, and auto insurance.

●      Highly organized, accurate, flexible, innovative, and positive attitude.

●      Ability to manage volunteers and make decisions under high-stress conditions.

●      Understanding of diversity, intersectionality, and cultural humility and responsiveness.

●      Advanced computer skills in word processing, data base management, spreadsheets.

●      Demonstrated ability to solve problems and think strategically.

●      Excellent interpersonal skills.

●      Experience with community outreach and presentations.


Preferred Qualifications:

●      Bachelor’s Degree.

●      Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking.

●      Experience training and managing a diverse group of volunteers to accomplish a variety of different tasks such as direct service to community, fundraising events, administration etc.

●      Experience networking with local communities and groups in Gallatin County.

●      Experience working in a fast-paced work environment. 

●      Proven ability to establish positive community relationships.

●      Desire to share Haven’s mission with the community.


TRAINING                 

●      Must attend domestic violence and sexual assault training programs.

●      Must attend CPR/First Aid training.

●      Other trainings as requested by the Program Director.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

●      Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to 4 or 5 hours and lift up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations can be made.


HOURS OF WORK: 40+ hours per week, flexible schedule

COMPENSATION: Historically, this position has a salary range of $43,500-$45,000 but Haven is currently working with RoadMap Consulting to create a more transparent and equitable compensation philosophy and metrics for Haven.
