P/t Finance Manager, Non-profit 🔥


Finance Manager: 24 hours per week; flexible schedule except for Finance Committee meetings every other month; most work carried out remotely.

THE RAGDALE FOUNDATION

Ragdale is a not-for-profit residency located on an historic country estate in Lake Forest, 30 minutes north of Chicago. More than 150 residencies and fellowships are offered annually to creative professionals of all types, making Ragdale one of the largest interdisciplinary artists’ communities in the country. Ragdale residents represent a cross-section of ages, cultures, experience, and disciplines, all contributing to a diverse and vibrant community. Ragdale also presents more than 50 community outreach programs and events annually, typically in partnership with regional schools and nonprofit partners.

Duties:

  • Prepare deposits for checks and cash received. Also, monitor and record deposits received through credit card processor and Paypal.
  • Manage A/P Process: keep track of and process vendor invoices, prepare A/P bill pay approval report, and print checks or online bill pay for payment
  • Manage invoice and draw-down process for construction budgets
  • Enter bi-weekly payroll into payroll processing system and journal entry into QuickBooks
  • Prepare quarterly payroll tax returns
  • Generate invoices for the Residency program and manage collection of Accounts Receivable
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investment accounts on a monthly basis
  • Prepare Excel version of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow on a monthly basis for board meetings
  • Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Oversee annual audit by outside accounting firm
  • Prepare and assist in analyzing reports as requested for fund development tracking by staff and Finance Committee
  • Work with development/administrative staff to reconcile Quickbooks to DonorPerfect database
  • Support the Board Treasurer and Events committee by creating budgets for Events and tracking budget vs actual
  • Prepare budgets and supporting documentation for Grant applications and reports
  • Work with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer to create annual budget for the organization
  • Prepare 1099s at year end for contract vendors
  • Attend Finance Committee meetings every other month

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with not-for-profit accounting
  • Advanced proficiency with Quickbooks (Online preferred)
  • Able to prepare spreadsheets using Excel or similar program
  • Understanding of P&L and Balance Sheet creation
  • Availability to occasionally work outside standard work hours, attending public events, fundraising events, and other meetings and events as requested
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (CPA preferred)
