 Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Staff Accountant ensures accurate and timely entry of account payable and receivable transactions; supports timely closing of the monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and year-end financials including journal entries; and assists with the annual audit.

  • You have gained 2 – 3 years of accounting experience, are familiar with accounting principles and procedures, and are willing to identify and suggest system improvements.

  • You are adaptable, independent, organized, and able to effectively prioritize and balance your workload and incoming requests.
  • You bring strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Financial Operations (95%): Support the Senior Accountant with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Finance Team.

  • Perform the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that invoices are paid accurately timely, and in accordance with the financial policies and procedures
  • Perform the processing of employee expense accounts in Certify ensuring that all receipts are attached before approving and processing the transaction
  • Enter all paid donations in Intacct, completing deposits within expected timeline
  • Working with HR Team, lead and manage the bi-weekly payroll process
  • Assist in general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements and other accounts as assigned
  • Perform the processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, and monthly journal entries as assigned
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and interim grant financial reporting
  • Participate in preparing documents for the preliminary and final annual audit
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Organizational Support (5%)

  • Contribute to the overall goals of the Operations team by working collaboratively with colleagues within HR, Finance, and Operations
  • Advance Bottom Line’s mission and brand  
  • Maintain a “students first” perspective, actively building connections with colleagues across functions to build understanding of each other’s work, and more importantly, serve as the best possible advocate for our students and mission 
  • Work collaboratively with others on the National Team and with regional teams on shared projects, committees, and other opportunities

Qualifications

In addition to the above, you:

  • Earned a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
